DAVID CROMBIE GRAY October 3, 1922 - November 5, 2013 David was born in Brandon, Manitoba, one of seven children of Charles and Anna Bella Gray. He was raised on a market garden next to Brandon Experimental Farm. During the Second World War he enlisted in the RCAF. He served in the Atlantic Region flying in an amphibious PBY aircraft escorting the supply convoys travelling to Europe. Their mission was to protect the convoy of ships from attack by German submarines. He met his wife Eve while in the service and they were married in Eve's hometown of Port Arthur, Ontario in 1944. After being discharged from the Air Force he attended the University of Manitoba and graduated with a degree in Agriculture in 1950. While living on campus in Veteran's Village their first son, Richard, was born in 1949. They had to be evacuated from Veteran's Village during the flood of 1950. Their second son, Doug, was born in 1955. After graduation, Dave worked with JI Case Farm Equipment, becoming a District Manager in Dauphin, Manitoba in 1958. The family moved back to Winnipeg in 1965 where he sold Real Estate and later worked for Department of Consumer Affairs for the Federal Government. Dave and his family enjoyed many summers at their cottage on Zig Zag Island at Clearwater Bay, Lake of the Woods, Ontario. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed golfing. Dave and Eve took many trips together to Hawaii, Florida, Mexico, Bahamas and went on a Caribbean cruise to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. David leaves to mourn his wife Eve, sons Richard (Brenda), Douglas (Mary), grandchildren Matthew, Jennifer (Alex) Graff, Erin (Roderick), Samara (Serge), one brother Robert Gray in Duncan, British Columbia and many nieces and nephews.
