PAMELA LOUISE RINEHART BRUCE October 24, 1952 - November 17, 2013 It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Pamela Bruce. Pam is deeply missed by her husband Bob and daughter Lindsay. Pam is survived by her husband Robert, daughter Lindsay (Ryan), and her siblings: Elizabeth Webb (Mac), Malcolm Rinehart (Karin), Brian Rinehart, and her nieces and nephews in Fredericton. She was predeceased by her parents George and Francis Rinehart. Pam was born in Fredericton, NB and graduated from Fredericton High School in the commercial program. Upon graduation Pam went to work for the Canadian Armed Forces at C.F.B. Gagetown where she worked for several years at the Combat Arms school and obtained a high security clearance. After years of commuting to Oromoto to work at Gagetown she found employment in Fredericton at the Provincial Labour Relations Board. It was at this time that she met and married her spouse Robert Bruce who was in Fredericton attending the University of New Brunswick. After Robert graduated from UNB she moved with him to Summerside, PEI where they lived for a year. They moved to Winnipeg in 1981, the year that their daughter Lindsay was born. During their years in Winnipeg Pam made many friends and created a family away from her home in New Brunswick. Pam had many fond memories of growing up in the Maritimes and always maintained that she was a Maritimer at heart. As a child she loved music and acting and the amateur theatre. Pam was a great artist whose talents were as diverse as cooking, stained glass, dressmaking, ceramics, knitting and creating jewelry. Despite her many health challenges Pam always tried to find the upside to life and tried to be positive about the future. Pam was a caring person who gave of herself to many people by lending support to her friends lives through kind words and generosity. In keeping with Pam's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service CELEBRATING her life will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. Pam will be going home to her final resting place in Fredericton, NB next summer where interment will take place. ***Pam often spoke of her desire to have a celebration of her life, and in order to honour her wish the family requests that guests attending the service avoid wearing dark colours, her favourite colour was purple, so wearing a purple article of clothing would be appreciated.*** In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Dear Bob and Lindsay - My heart goes out to both of you at this difficult time in your life. Although I didn't know Pam very well, I know she was a wonderful wife and mother. She was very kind. For sure Pam will be missed by her family and friends. Rest in Peace in Fredericton, N.B., Pam. Lea Scott, friend - Posted by: Leatrice Scott (Friend) on: Dec 04, 2013

  • So sorry to hear about Pam. Haven't seen her in many years, but family connections are so meaningful. We will purple on Sunday. - Posted by: Gordon and Joanne Butler (cousin) on: Nov 23, 2013

  • Dear Bob & Lindsay, I am so very sorry to learn of Pam's death. I have fond memories of her and remember how proud she was of Lindsay every time I saw her at school. I also remember her admiration of your work on the St. Vital School Board, Bob. However, I will especially remember Pam's kind smile, her warm personality, and her sense of humour. I am out of the city and unable to attend the celebration tomorrow but will be sure to find something purple to add to my clothes tomorrow in honour of Pam. May she rest in peace. I know that you will always treasure the memories of your dear wife and mother. With deepest sympathy, Terry Borys - Posted by: Terry Borys (Friend) on: Nov 23, 2013

  • I remember going to the Bruce house back in the 1990s for a sleepover. Pam had all the fixings for banana splits ready and thanks to her, we had a great time. She was also generous with her time at Ecole Varennes. There need to be more parents like her out there. My thoughts and prayers are with Bob and Lindsay. R.I.P.
