ARMAND GENDRON 1930 - 2013 Sadly, with his children by his side, Armand Gendron passed away at the age of 83 on November 27. Dad "Papa Bear" was a man of many stories, talent and wisdom. He was inspiring to all his friends and family. Papa Bear was a very kind, gentle and funny man. He will be sadly missed by his wife Jeanne, his children Denis, Norbert, Roger, Irene (Gordon), Suzanne; his grandchildren Aden, Terry (Natasha), and Justine. Predeceased by his two sons, Michel and Raymond, his father Oscar, stepfather Wilfred, mother Eleanor, his brothers Denis, Louis, Maurice, and sister Mona. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters Elianne (Fred), Cecille (Al), brother Marcel (Julia) and sisters-in-law, Irene and Elaine. He will also be lovingly remembered by his wife's family, Annette, Simone, Cecile (Clement), Raymond (Angele), Guy (Cecile), Irene, Helen (Napoleon) and Guy Boulianne. Armand worked at TransCanada Pipelines for 28 years, as a Maintenance and Heavy Equipment Operator and retired in 1988. He then moved to Woodridge, Manitoba, into a log home that he, mom and their kids had built. Armand was very proud of his log and cedar house and resided in Woodridge until his last days. In 1990, Dad began his own backhoe and heavy equipment business. Dad loved hauling gravel, topsoil, installing septic tanks, pulling tree stumps, and clearing snow for the community of Woodridge and its surrounding areas. He adored the company of all his friends, neighbours and old co-workers. A celebration of Armand's life will take place 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 2, 2013 at Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church, 500 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg, MB. Our family would like to thank the community, the many friends of Woodridge and the surrounding area for all their generosity, kind visits and for all their care and compassion. We are also thankful for the care and support of the Bethesda Hospital staff and South Eastman Health staff. We especially thank Evelyn Fillion for all her wonderful care and attention. We are so grateful to you Evelyn, especially Dad. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

  • While visiting with Armand late; we agreed it was a good opportunity to go back over our times at Woodridge.... Initially, from both having an interest in the same property. Armand secured 210 & Duke, so I purchased further West on Duke St. Reminiscing thru the Woodridge yrs., especially the (80’s/90’s) brought much laughter... the work... and oh, the antics! Armand used his unique ability to apply a “soft-touch-finish” to his work, with a hoe and loader. Very nice work. Gentle, helpful, kind man. Rest easy friend. • I have known Armand for over 25 years and have a great respect for him. He used to call me "son" and I used to laughingly call him "dad". I will miss him. - Posted by: Marc Gerardy (Friend) on: Nov 30, 2013

  • The memories of your Dad will stay in your heart always. Many good memories of times with your Dad (and family) from Christmas parties at Grandma Gendron's (how did we all fit in that little house?) to to family visits on Essex and Mager in St. Vital and then to many good times at Woodridge. Your Dad was always kind and welcoming to us and will be missed. - Posted by: Joel Judi Chantal and Luke Fournier (Nephew) on: Nov 30, 2013
