CAROLE ANNE BOLINGBROKE (BARNETT) On Saturday, December 28, 2013, Carole Bolingbroke passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre. She was predeceased by her parents Harold and Edith Barnett and her husband Dennis Bolingbroke. She is survived by her four daughters: Catherine Watt (William) of Winnipeg, MB, Elisabeth Cram (David) of Souris, MB, Jennifer Hutchinson (Mark) of Edmonton, AB and Patricia Chackowsky (Peter) of Winnipeg, MB; her grandchildren: Jordan, Aaron and John Cram; Nicholas, Georgina and Margrett Watt; Rylan, Nicole, Taylor and Cameron Chackowsky; Kathleen and Elizabeth Hutchinson as well as her brother Ronald Barnett (Betty); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be lovingly remembered by many, many dear friends who enriched her life and provided strength and support during her illness. Carole was born in Ottawa, Ontario, on December 2, 1935, and graduated from Ottawa Civic Hospital as a nurse in 1957. Carole's life was bookmarked by many moves across Canada, from big city living to a small farm life and everything in between. She married Dennis on February 27, 1960. Carole and Dennis made their home in Frobisher Bay, NWT, Fort Qu'Appelle, SK, Saskatoon, SK, Minnedosa, MB, Lethbridge, AB and Airdrie, AB. Carole moved to Winnipeg in 2000 and enjoyed her independent retirement years with family, pets and friends. She loved spending time scrapbooking and card making and found a wonderful circle of friends through these activities. Carole's marriage to Dennis was highlighted by their time farming, running Dennis' veterinary practice, and raising their family. We will cherish the great memories of camping trips, late night bridge parties, visits with friends and the multitude of family pets that Carole loved. Carole was blessed with twelve grandchildren which made keeping up with scrapbooking photos and keepsakes a major hobby in her later years, taking over an entire bedroom in her apartment. She never had a fear of new technology, and looking through Carole's digital photos projects, and shortcuts on her ipad, one is reminded not only of her love for her grandkids, but her interests in the lives of friends, social issues and, of course, Canadian sports teams. She was a loyal and dedicated Blue Bombers and Jets fan. Our sincere thanks to Dr. Wong, Dr. Kowaluk and each and every staff member of CancerCare at St. Boniface for their involvement in Carole's care. As well, we are so grateful for the care Carole received from the firefighters and paramedics who assisted her and all the staff at Riverview. We are especially thankful to family and friends who sent prayers and cards or supported Carole in their own way. A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2013, at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carole's name may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Condolences & Memories (23 entries)

  • Carol helped me when I first started scrapbooking. I came into the store to try to make an album or to work with my late son's pictures. I felt that if I scrapbooked his pics a part of him would be with me. She and Marilyn showed me that working with pictures helps keep a memory. - Posted by: Cheryl Huska (scrapbooker friend) on: Jan 09, 2014

  • Carole was a very special woman. She always greeted me with a big smile and a hug. Be at peace, you are missed by so many. I will miss that smile and hug at Marilyn's. - Posted by: Brenda Skene (scrapbooking and card making friend) on: Jan 06, 2014

  • I will always remember Carole for her beautiful smile and welcoming hugs. But it was her compassion with my sister, Sally (during her battle with cancer) that truly touched my heart. Carole & Sally were so very inspirational during their fights with cancer and they both forever changed the people they touched with their bravery. I was blessed to have a chance to chat with her at the Christmas party and to exchange hugs. I will never make a bow, scrapbook or make chili without thinking of them both!! Rest in Peace, Carole, you deserve it!! - Posted by: Doris Millis (Scrapbooking Friend) on: Jan 05, 2014

  • I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of my "Auntie" Carole. I have many fond memories or our family visits to Minnedosa as well as their family to visits to us in Manotick and on to Cape Pele, New Brunswick. Auntie Carole was a great help and support to me and my family when we moved to Alberta; from looking after my little dog Max to letting us stay with her when we moved to Airdrie and house hunted, then while we waited for our furniture to arrive before we could move into our new home. She has been a most wonderful friend and companion to my mother and our family and we will all miss her dearly. I send my love and hugs to Cathy, Liz, Jen and Pat and your families and please know that we share deeply in your loss. XO - Posted by: Laura Clarke (Family Friend ) on: Jan 03, 2014

  • It is going to take some time to go into the "store" without her greeting and smile ... although I am sure her spirit will be there encouraging everyone .... somehow I think new people to classes will feel her most with her encouragement ... and that smile. Journey well Carole, you have begun another move ... the biggest one and longest. Enjoy, everyone there will be so pleased to greet you and be new recipients of your smile. - Posted by: Gini (Fellow Scrapbooker) on: Jan 02, 2014
