LUCILLE WILMA STEELE
Date of Passing: Dec 27, 2013
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUCILLE WILMA STEELE Friday, December 27, 2013, our mother Lucille Wilma Steele passed peacefully to meet her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Although we grieve for her presence here, we take great comfort in the fact that she is rejoicing in heaven with Jesus, her family, and all the saints. Mom was one of six children born in Trinidad, West Indies to Reynold and Mildred Downes. She married at a young age, and raised nine children in Trinidad until 1970 when she and our father took the enormous step of moving the entire family to Winnipeg. Mom cared for her family while working full time for many years at HSC. As with everything in her life, she undertook the challenge of a new life with strength and determination, and with an unfailing love for her family. Although a strict disciplinarian, she left no doubt in the minds of her children of her unconditional love. We are in great part who we are today because of her. Mom leaves to mourn her passing, husband Ampthill, her sister Jessica Downes, brother-in-law Albert Mitchell, sister-in-law Fredrica Tyson (Trinidad), her children Anthony (Janet), Garves, Bert (Pam), McKinley (Lena), Mevlyn, Leroy (Sue), Ingrid (Ray) and Vanessa (Jason), thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn are her special nieces and nephew Mike (Thomasena), Marcia (Brent) and Juliet (Brian), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends in Canada, Trinidad and USA. Mom was predeceased by her parents, sisters Sylvia and Cynthia, brothers Godfrey and Alton and son Keith. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2014 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Viewing will be held one hour prior to service. We love you Momi, until we meet again. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

Mrs. Steele, you will be missed by many whose lives you touched. I will always remember your beautiful smile, abiding faith, mischievious laugh and warmth in opening your home and heart. You always made me feel welcome as a child of God - thank you for that kindness. I will never forget your special attention to my girl Jillian. My heart goes out to your family in their sorrow; may they take comfort in knowing that you no longer suffer and walk in joy with our Lord.
