LARRY PROST We sadly announce the sudden passing of John Lawrence (Larry) Prost on Friday, January 10, 2014 at the age of 66. He is survived and dearly missed by long time companion Lise Bennett, brother Jim, sister Cathy Spence (Gord), nieces and nephew, very special uncle Frank Prost, and special buddy Sadie the cat. Larry was predeceased by his parents John and Mary Prost. Larry was born in Winnipeg and spent the majority of his life here. He spent some time in the Canadian Armed Forces and had the chance to live in various places in Canada, including Alert in what is now Nunavut. He was employed by Cimco Refrigeration for 22 years, most recently as General Manager of the Midwest Region and retired in October of 2013. One of Larry's greatest passions was fishing and he spent many happy hours at Eagle Nest Resorts pulling in all the pickerel he could. We will never pull in a nice pickerel without thinking of him. We would like to extend a very special thank-you to Larry's friend Hal McLean for all his assistance over the last months. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Siloam Mission or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating Larry's life will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street, Winnipeg.

Larry was very special to me. we used to go out for lunch at least a couple of times a month to phong nam for pho soup, he was a great guy. he took me out to eagles nest lodge for fishing. first hour I caught a master angler northern with Larry's rod and reel, I have the picture on my phone as the background. I've always bragged about Larry taking me there and catching the fish with him. You meet only a handful of really great people in your lifetime and he was one of them. Prosty I will miss you lots, your salsa making buddy. - Posted by: Les and Carrie nemeth (Supplier and lunch friend and salsa supplier) on: Jan 16, 2014

Larry will be remembered as a fair person to deal with who always had a smile..whatever the situation. A lunch at Rae & Jerry's, a fishing story, how to keep a car clean, his cat, and his career at Cimco, were ingredients for many a conversation. He will be missed, and we are saddened by his passing. Our sincere condolences to Lise, Jim, Cathy & Gord, and, of course, Sadie. - Posted by: Eric Henstridge (Industry Associate) on: Jan 16, 2014

I have had the pleasure of knowing Larry for more than 20 years. He was a friend and colleague at CIMCO. He was a very people oriented, positive person who brightened any room he entered. My condolences to his family and friends ...he will be missed by all. - Posted by: Guy Russell (friend and co-worker) on: Jan 16, 2014

Larry initally was a guest and soon became a friend. A very close friend, as his passsion for fishing evolved quickly and it was so rewarding emotionally to have him stay with us. The friendship and good times flowed easily and Larry spent many hours helping us at Eagle Nest. Larry was "reeled in" by the Lord much too soon and we will sadly miss him, along with his contagious energy and laugh. - Posted by: Fred & Jo-Anne (Friends) on: Jan 16, 2014

I meet Larry 30+ years ago first as a customer and then as a co-worker. Our relationship grew from there. Larry was a great mentor to me. Also we had a blast together. We had many lunches together over the years. Best was we never said where we would have lunch we just knew, (Ray and Jerrys) was our place. Those days will follow me forever. We spent time together just before Christmas, we laughed and talked about days gone by. I'm going to miss you buddy, R.I.P. - Posted by: Gordon Armour (Great Friend) on: Jan 15, 2014

Where do I begin...Larry and I have shared a long history together (33 years). Our last 18"ish" years have been spent going to the Bomber games. Larry always got a kick out me when I would have to bring my "blankie" along because it was too cold or when I would get so excited because we got to go to the Blue and Gold room. If we were not at the game together or it was an out of town game we would be on the phone or, in the last few years, texting and discussing the plays. In the winter months Larry would keep me updated on the new Bomber happenings for the coming season. This year was not the same, Larry was not able to attend the games ....I probably drove him crazy with at least 20 texts a game... I wanted him to feel as if he was still a part of our "outings"! I have many stories that I could share but there would not be enough space. Larry was such a kind hearted person and a truly great friend, kind of like the brother I never had. I always respected his advice as he knew me like a book. I could always count on Larry for my Birthday phone call (and vice versa). Our birthdays were 3 days apart, we always joked about being Aquarians. I will miss our "outings"! Larry will be sadly missed but at least I have 33 years of memories!!! This is for you Larry..."zoom zoom"! - Posted by: Carol Conrad (33 year special friendship) on: Jan 15, 2014

Larry was a hard working, dedicated individual whom I met early on in my career. Larry was involved in the Industry at many levels but I worked with him personally when he served the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society on the Board of Directors and then as President. Thank you for all your work and willingness to impart your knowledge and ethics onto to me. You will be missed and long remembered in my life. - Posted by: D.
