LYDIA MICHALYNA It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Lydia Michalyna (nee Prychidko) at St. Boniface Hospital on February 7, 2014. She is survived by her husband Walter, daughter Carol (Rodney), her niece Lisa and family (Glenn, Katelyn, and Brandon) and her niece Michelle and her family (Dave and Madison). She is predeceased by her mother Sophie, father Michael, and sister Zora. Lydia was a very kind, generous, and loving soul who always had the time to listen and give advice to friends and relatives. She had a delicate and sensitive nature that expressed itself in a love of gardening, music, and literature. She was a wonderful cook. She could be very, very funny - a delightfully wry sense of humour and insightful off-the cuff comments made us laugh. Lydia's warm-hearted presence and weather updates will be keenly and painfully missed by her family and friends. Her family would like to express their deep and heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Ward 6E, St. Boniface Hospital for their professional, diligent, and kindly care. A memorial service honouring her life will be held at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodière Blvd. Thursday, February 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to World Vision Canada. Family and friends wishing may sign a book of condolence at www. glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550

Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • It is hard to believe that a year has passed, and not a day goes by that you are not thought of. The lessons will always be remembered and carried on by all, as you always made a holiday and us feel special. The first year is always the hardest as they are the "first" so many things have happened this year with the kids growing up and finding their independence, they so wanted to share with you. I know you are watching over them, it makes it easier, but not better. Not only did I lose my aunt but I lost my best friend. I hope you know how much I loved you and because of you, you made me a better person/parent/wife. You kept me going when I was tired or didn't think I could do it. Thank you... Forever missed but never forgotten xoxoxo - Posted by: Lisa (Niece) on: Feb 06, 2015

  • It was very heart breaking to hear of Lydia's passing. Lydia and Wally were our best friends and we knew them since university days. Lydia was a was a very generous person. We shared many happy moments together, not only at their White Shell cottage but at our homes. She loved to sing and we spent many hours singing and laughing into the wee hours of the night. It is hard to believe that we will not be able to enjoy her company any more. It is truly a loss and we will miss Lydia dearly. - Posted by: Ivan and Margaret Bilash (Best Friends) on: Feb 10, 2014

  • I have many fond memories of visiting Lydia and Wally at their cabin located at Big Whiteshell Lake when I was a youngster. Many great times were had over the years from fishing for Walleye, to late night card games. Lydia and Wally always made us feel welcome and a part of their family. We will miss Lydia dearly. - Posted by: Matthew Bilash (Friend of family) on: Feb 10, 2014

  • Carol and family, I was deeply saddened to hear of the sudden loss of your mother. I remember the time you brought her over to my place in Ottawa and we went for a nice walk through the rockeries and enjoyed the beauty of the daffodils. I especially remember her spunk and sense of humour. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Denise Conway (Ottawa) - Posted by: Denise Conway () on: Feb 10, 2014
