Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHEILA MACARTHUR FIELD Peacefully, with her family by her side, Sheila MacArthur Field (nee Snider) passed away at the age of 86 on February 25, 2014. Sheila was born on October 6, 1927 in Cornwall, Ontario and was raised on the Snider family farm in Bainsville, Ontario. Moving to Montreal following high school, Sheila married the love of her life, John Edward Field, on June 21, 1952. Predeceased by her husband John in 2008 following 57 years of marriage, Sheila will be lovingly remembered by her children, Gavin (Terri), Sharon, Andrea, Allison, and Jennifer (Kaz Cieslar) and her grandchildren, Jesse and Samantha Downing. Sheila is also survived by her sister, Connie Sandilands and family of Cornwall, Ontario; sister-in-law Barby Rempel and family of Duncan, BC and sister-in-law Ruth MacDonald and family of Lachine, Quebec. She will also be missed by her life-long friends, Gerald and Jessie Rowntree of Brockville, Ontario. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Those we hold closest to our hearts never truly leave us. Mrs. Field was like a second mother to me. We lived right across the street and she was my best friend's mom. She was generous, kind, gentle, and always available to talk to Jennifer and I when we were bored and had "nothing to do", and host an informal pool party. I treasure the memories of her, and send my deepest condolences to the whole family. My fondest memory as a small child was when she took in a very persnickety stray kitty that nobody else on the street wanted....and Puss stuck around for the next 18 years. Rest in peace, Mrs. Field. Our condolences to my cousins whom I have not seen for many years. I remember Sheila as a charming and elegant aunt - I attended her wedding to John in 1952, and she attended mine to Leslie in 1977.
