ALLAN POERSCH October 22, 1922 - March 26, 2014 It is with sadness that we announce Allan's passing at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Eileen Rathert, as well as his many nieces and nephews and their families. Allan was predeceased by his parents, Gus and Mary Poersch, his brother Walter, sister Alma Rathert, brothers-in-law Harold and Wally Rathert, nephew Larry, niece Marilynn, and his grand-nephew Rodney Herkert. Allan was born in Ste. Elizabeth, Manitoba. He grew up and attended church and school in Brunkild. At a young age he left home to begin his career with the CN Railway. He loved his job and enjoyed exploring his country. Upon retirement, he was able to pursue his love of nature and wildlife. One of his passions was driving and he spent countless hours on country back roads. He also had many happy times at Oak Hammock Marsh welcoming the Canada Geese back in the springtime and bidding them farewell in the autumn. Allan was a quiet, kind and gentle man with a wonderful sense of humour. His simple pleasures were reading, driving and observing nature. He was very helpful with his family and generous with his time, and we will cherish many wonderful memories of him. Allan's family would like to extend a special thank you to his niece Carol for her steadfast devotion to Allan's well being over the last several years. Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family service held at Brunkild Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made to the Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre, P.O Box 1160, Stonewall, Manitoba, R0C 2Z0. In silence he suffered In patience he bore Til God called him home To suffer no more
