ALLEN CHESTER WOOD
Born: Apr 07, 1934
Date of Passing: Mar 31, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALLEN CHESTER WOOD It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Allen Chester Wood on Monday, March 31, 2014. He is survived by his wife Simone, his daughters Paula (Andrew), Shelley (Bruce) and Tannis (Rick), his grandchildren Carly, Cole, Sydney, Reid, Brooklyn, Jordan and Hannah, his brothers Barrie and Brian (Connie), and many extended family members, including sisters and brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews. Dad was born in Winnipeg on April 7, 1934 to Grace and Barrett Wood. Having spent his younger years in the city, his family moved to Regina, where he spent his formative years enjoying all the adventures that life had to offer. Following his family's move to Vancouver as a young adult, he joined the Air Force, acting as a radio operator in the 1950s. Returning to Winnipeg, he began working with the People's Credit Jewellers, during which time he met his future wife. Mom and Dad were married in 1963 and together raised three daughters in Flin Flon, while he worked at the HBM&S for over 25 years. Following his retirement from the company, Mom and Dad moved to Winnipeg where they have spent the past 19 years, dividing their time between family and friends. Our father was a man known for his dry sense of humour, his quick wit and his easy laugh. He enjoyed a good joke with family and friends and was often the life of the party, known to turn up the dance floor a time or two with Mom in a quick jive or get heavily involved in a card game with those same people. He wasn't one to shy away from expressing his feelings, a trait passed on over the generations, so we always knew where we stood. Dad's greatest joy came in spending time with his family and being involved in his grandchildren's lives and their many activities. He was fiercely proud of this family that he called his own and so grateful to have them in his life. He will be missed. A memorial service will be held for Dad on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Club Regent Casino Hotel, 1415 Regent Avenue West in the Ambassador Room. A reception will follow in his honour. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

I have so many found memories of Uncle Allan and our times spent in Flin Flon and Ste. Anne together. Uncle Allan always made us feel welcome and loved. His laugh was so contagious, it always lit up the room. He treated us kids with such generosity and kindness. I know no words can express the loss you must feel. You are in my thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Colette (Neice) on: Apr 03, 2014

Dear Ma Tante Simone, Paula, Shelley, Tannis and family. I just want to let you know that you are in my thoughts and in the thoughts of everyone in my family. You have all been so special to us, to our mother and we are, even though only in spirit, hugging and holding you all during this most difficult time. We were all blessed to have Uncle Allen in our lives. He was so kind and gentle and I know I was touched by his love. You are a strong and beautiful family and together you will keep each other comforted. Even though hard to imagine now, it will get better...in time. We can find comfort in the thought that he'll be in good company with Denise and Henry...I'll stop with that as I should keep this clean. I love you guys xoxo Jacquie - Posted by: Jacqueline Pineau (He was my Uncle) on: Apr 02, 2014
