Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE H. GRAHAME It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of George Grahame on Friday, February 28, 2014 at the age of 86 years. George was born in Plain Lake, AB on April 26, 1927 and was the youngest of three children. He was predeceased by his father Louis; mother Magda; brother Steve and sister Nancy. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Nancy (nee Sedleski); children Ken (Bonnie), Shelley (George) and Darrell. Also left to mourn are his half-brother Eugene Peteski (Sharon) of Coquitlam, BC; sister-in-law Betty Slowe (Matt); and brother-in-law Ernie Sedleski (Mona). George was a very kind and compassionate man who was always considerate of others. Throughout his life he provided service to the community. He was a past president and continuous member of the East Kildonan Lions Club for 54 years. In 1994 he received one of the highest Lions International awards, the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, for humanitarian service. George also freely gave his time to service at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #9 for many years up until his passing. To many people the name George Grahame and Woodcharm Kitchens is synonymous. Woodcharm, which he established in 1974 and worked at until his retirement, is presently operated by his daughter Shelley. George and his wife Nancy enjoyed their summer cottage at Grand Beach for 47 years where they had many friends and memorable times. He was a real character and charmed countless people with his magic tricks and jokes. A Celebration of George's Life will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. upstairs in the Elmwood Legion, 920 Nairn Avenue with Fr. Greg Mulligan as presider. The family thanks the staff at Concordia Hospital for their care of George and Dr. Sean Thomas for his years of dedication to George's health and well-being. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Make a Wish Foundation. Wojcik's Winnipeg Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 1020 Main Street, wojciksfuneralchapel.com 204.586.8668.

Mr. Grahame was another awesome father in my neighborhood, while growing up on Simpson Avenue. Though it wasn't until my youth when I first met Mr. Grahame, he and Mrs. Grahame were always welcoming to us kids when we came to "hang out" at their house with Darrel. I also met Shelley and Ken at that time (late 1970's), and felt welcome playing pool or just coming by to call on a friend. I'll always remember. - Posted by: Mike J.T. Nancy, my deepest sympathy to you and your family. I have often thought of the times we shared over the years when Bill was still here to enjoy the fellowship as well. Unfortunately we can not keep those we love, but not even time erases the fond memories. Thinking of you as you face the days ahead. God Bless! - Posted by: Muriel Alexander (Friend) on: Apr 06, 2014
