BEATRICE RITA PRIVE Béatrice Privé passed away suddenly, but peacefully, on April 15, 2014 at Foyer Valade. She was born on May 5, 1933 in Fannystelle, Manitoba to Célestin and Cecile Nadeau. Béatrice was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Denis. She will forever live affectionately in the hearts of her children, Leona (Ron Campbell), Doris (Dave West), Rene (Nancie), Danny (Denise) and Marie Louise; her grandchildren, Louise, Joanne, Monique, Michelle, Jessica, Stéphanie, Aimée, Ashley, Justin and Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Renée, Lindsay, Melissa, Amanda, Melynda, Kyle, Kody, Makayla, Kayley; and great-great-grandchildren, Emma and Abigale. Mom was very close to her siblings who looked up to her as the family matriarch. She will be sadly missed by Gilbert (Joyce), René (Pat), Vivian (Marshall Johnston), Gerry (Lorraine) and Diane (Philippe Desilets) and the many nieces and nephews of the Nadeau family. She will also be fondly remembered by her Privé family - Ubald, Shirley, Louise, Wade, and many nieces and nephews. Growing up on the farm, Béatrice developed a love of animals big and small which continued throughout her life. She loved to feed the birds, squirrels and rabbits in her backyard while watching the comings and goings of all the neighbourhood pets. Her love of nature was evident in the time she spent tending to her small vegetable and flower gardens. Béatrice had a great gift for hospitality. She created a warm and welcoming environment for all who sat at her table. Not only did her cooking taste great, it always came with love, comfort and good times. She was the world's worst joke teller, always messing up punch lines, but the end result was often more hilarious than a well-told joke would have been. She would have a good laugh at her own expense. She found great joy in her grandchildren and was a wonderful role model to them. They learned about love and gentleness, witnessing the special bond she and Denis shared. They learned about generosity, always leaving Memere's with something to eat in their hand. They learned about joy, seeing the jolly jiggling of her belly as she laughed. Her grandchildren cherished their visits with Memere. They always felt so special when she brought out their favourite sweet from her "magical" cupboard. Her generosity, joy, love and kindness will forever be remembered. She leaves a lifetime of memories for her family. The family would like to thank all the staff at Foyer Valade who participated in her care on the 3rd floor. Funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Church, 847 St. Mary's Road on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Owen Steeves presiding. Reception and Interment to follow at Glen Lawn Reception Centre and Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodière Blvd. If friends so desire, donations in Béatrice's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
