LAURA D'ERRICO
Born: May 28, 1963
Date of Passing: May 07, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAURA D'ERRICO May 28, 1963 May 7, 2014 After a lengthy battle with cancer, Laura passed from this life, at the age of 50, with her family by her side at the Riverview Health Centre. Laura defiantly and stubbornly fought with every ounce of her being, for six years and continued to fight, right to the end, where at last she found peace, and blessedly, relief from her suffering. We know you are now with Mom and Dad, and Nonno and Nonna, who will embrace you with their love. Laura was the baby of the family and the first Canadian in our family as she was the first one to be born in Canada. She grew up in a traditional Italian family, with all the drama and passion that comes naturally with Italian families. Laura definitely carried on the family tradition of stubbornness and independence, along with her own unique quirk of never being on time. Laura was the quiet one during her school years, but let her wilder side show as she blossomed into a beautiful, young woman, with her famous and envied, thick, long, dark hair. She loved motorcycles, leather, and high heels, and rarely left the house until she felt she was perfect, make up, hair, and of course her favourite heels or boots and jewelry. Laura chose a career as an Early Childhood Educator, and loved her job. She would often tell us stories of the cute little ones she cared for. She was a long time employee of Stanley Knowles Daycare, and very much enjoyed working with the children and staff there. Although her illness prevented her from working the last years of her life, Stanley Knowles Daycare was a large part of her life. Although life presented Laura with many challenges she managed to overcome them, notably with the presence of her beloved dog, Ducati. We know life was not always easy, but we will remember the laughter and good times. Laura had many loves throughout her life, especially her family and friends, but she had a special love for animals, particularly dogs, and most of all Ducati. Laura was predeceased by her parents, Alfredo and Giuseppina D'Errico, her grandparents, Erasmo and Civita Scinicariello, and Raphaele and Laura D'Errico. Laura is survived by her sister, Raphaela Lecomte (Gerald), brother, Erasmo D'Errico (Leah), niece, Gina Imbrogno (Mario), nephew, Gino D'Errico, niece, Desiree D'Errico, grandnephew, Elio Imbrogno, and grandniece, Milenna Imbrogno, along with family and cousins in Winnipeg, British Columbia, USA, and Italy. A most heartfelt thank you to all the special "angels" in Laura's life who helped her and her family, tremendously, throughout the last few years. Your love and constant support is most sincerely appreciated, and a blessing to us all. We wish to extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Ralph Wong, and all the doctors and staff that helped care for Laura over the last six years. Our most heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Riverview Health Centre who cared not only for Laura, but also for her family, during our time of need. Your compassion and care will not be forgotten - truly angels on earth, helping usher a loved one lovingly and painlessly from one life to another. Laura, we miss you and carry you in our hearts, with our love. Riposa in Pace, Laura. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave., with Father Sam Argenziano officiating. Viewing and Condolences will be received at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon reception, at Holy Rosary, will follow immediately after the Mass. A family burial will ensue at a later date. Pallbearers will be Gino D'Errico, Mario Imbrogno, Murray McDonald, Edward Wertepny, Vito Rella, and Ivan Zorko. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Laura may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or The Winnipeg Humane Society. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO. Dear Laura, you have no idea how much I am going to miss you. You were and always will be my best friend. I can't believe that tomorrow I will be sitting in a church attending your funeral service. A day I have been dreading. I will miss hearing your voice. The two of us would spend countless hours talking about nothing but yet it meant everything. I am relieved that you don't have to worry anymore of what's to come and that you are now pain free. Ducati will miss you. You were a good Mama to him, spoiled him rotten and he loved you. I wish things could have turned out different Laura. See you on the other side my friend. You will be in my thoughts, in my heart & always on my mind, Love Cindy - Posted by: Cindy Salamandyk (Best friend ) on: May 13, 2014

My condolences to the family. It's been many years since we visited, with Alberto's parents Salvatore & Anna ... they have passed away and so has Alberto (in 2011). Losing a loved one to cancer is very hard; my heart goes out to you. Our faith in Eternal Life allows us to be consoled. You may get used to the idea of losing someone, but it doesn't mean you have to like it. But like the little boy said, "Heaven is for real" and that helps. We never met. I live in Winnipeg. Civita, her grandmother, it appears, was my grandfather's sister, so we would have been cousins. I only know this because my Mother sent me an email to let me know of her passing. I am sorry for your loss. Our family has lost many to cancer, and we understand it never gets easier. - Posted by: Tony Bonomo (Family) on: May 12, 2014

I just cannot believe I am looking at your photo in the obituaries. It just doesn't seem real. I know you are now at peace, but how I wish we were still planning a shopping trip or even bickering about something. Say hi to Mom and Dad, and Nonna and Nonno. Remember how you used to say they were having a party in heaven? We know you asked for a party and we will have a party for you here too. Rest now and be at peace, Laura. Tanti baci, love Raffelina and Gerry xoxoxo.... - Posted by: Raphaela Lecomte (Sister) on: May 12, 2014
