ELIZABETH (LIZ) MICHELLE BOURGOIN (nee ZUK) The lights of heaven are shining brighter with the passing of our beautiful, beloved wife, sister, godmother, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, and friend on May 7, 2014. Liz leaves behind her husband and soul mate Gil, sisters: Lucille (Tom) Carson, Lou (John) Remillard, sister-in-law Jacquie (Chris) Calvert, nephew Paul (Jennifer) Carson, nieces: Michelle (Matt) Tegenkamp, Val Carson (Carson Lai), great-nieces and nephews: Lilah Carson, Brayden and Nolan Tegenkamp. She was predeceased by her parents Myron and Monique Zuk. Liz grew up in Winnipeg, but was a country girl at heart and that's where she and Gil made a home with Gypsy, Onyx, Red, Sylvie, Whisky, Rio and Smudge. She was a life-long animal lover and avid equestrian. She also loved dancing, pool-time, acting, boating and travelling, especially cruising with Gil. Her life's work was in the care of others - first as a veterinary assistant then as a paramedic with the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service. She had a passion for life, fun and adventure but also took delight in the simple things. She made the most of each day, even in the face of tremendous adversity, and was an inspiration to those around her. A celebration of Liz's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2014, Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. A gathering of family and friends following the service will be held at Glen Lawn Reception Centre. A special thank you to the family, neighbours, friends, colleagues and medical care staff for your loving care, support and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Liz to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Family and friends wishing to may sign a book of condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Liz was cherished and will be missed more than words can express. "We love ya LizzyB" Glen Lawn Funeral Home 982-7550

Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • Gil, My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and the Zuk Family! When Liz's Mom was alive and I did her hair she always kept me up to date on the two of you.....My thoughts are with you during this deeply sad time. - Posted by: Paulette Baril- Kusano (High School Friend of Gil's but also knew Liz from Windsor Park and doing her Mom's hair for years!) on: May 26, 2014

  • We had a great time being on same team for Chelsea's broom ball polo match. Liz and Gil where great. We had tons of fun cheering and laughing. And passing back and forth under the horses legs resulting in a few goals. In fact Liz and Gil passing to each other got the winning goal. I only got to meet Liz a handful of times at Garry's ranch and waved many times while passing her walking her dogs and her and Gil riding their horses. I am deeply saddened by her passing and wish Gil much strength to help him through his loss. - Posted by: Bruce jackcruz (Teammate for broom ball polo) on: May 21, 2014

  • I feel so blessed and privileged to have a friend like you in my life. I will miss you always, and love you much. Your memory will live forever in my heart. Rest in peace my dear friend. I always remember you when I hear this song. You told me one day (back at the Vet Clinic) that you found strength in this song. When I hear it, to this day, I always think of you. It's my Liz song. "I can see clearly now the rain is gone. I can see obstacles in my way. Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind, It's going to be a bright, bright, sunshiny day". Till we meet again my friend. Love Deb. - Posted by: Debbie Patkau (Friend) on: May 13, 2014

  • Gil, Lou, Lucille and Families..... My heart hurts for your loss and the sorrow this has brought. Please take care of yourselves and remember all the great moments in her life. Cry but remember to laugh too. The last few days talking to my Mom, my sister Janice, and to Gail (Totin) has been special to me because of sharing all the old memories. Who could forget Cleo? And our "clubs" in the basements / garages around the neighbourhood?? Or our daily treks to WPC together? Or the annual Boxing Day Conifer Crescent gatherings?? I have lots of pictures from early birthdays with us wearing dresses (ugh!)... But we share a great birthday month(May)... Good bye my friend. Enjoy your galloping adventures in heaven. - Posted by: Shawna Rudd (Bradley) (Childhood friend of Liz's ) on: May 12, 2014

  • I know we haven't spoken for quite some time but I wish I could be there for you. I know how much you loved her & I'm sure will continue to love her 'til the end. I live in Drayton Valley, Alberta & I'm in the process of acquiring finances for a house I am building & I can't afford to get away in such short notice. I would love to hear from you some time in the near future when things settle down. Your old friend Rob - Posted by: Robert Dufault (Gil's old friend ) on: May 10, 2014
