MARJORIE PRITCHARD Bright red lipstick, Black Cat glasses and the coolest car ever, a Nash Metropolitan, are some of the iconic memories of our dear mother, our aunt, our friend, and our grandmother Marjorie Pritchard. Our Marj was unique, talented, and with an inner spirit unlike any other. You knew she was right and if you thought not, you soon would see her point. Thank you, mom for teaching us the value of thinking outside the box, listening to the meaning of silence and always searching for a solution. It is with great sorrow and sadness we announce that on April 17, 2014 Marjorie passed away peacefully at Victoria General Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Born the youngest of six, she is survived by her beloved husband Noel whom she first met in the line at the Garrick Theatre. Leaving behind her children Barbara and Douglas; son-in-law Kevin, and daughter-in-law Dianna; sibling Elizabeth (Betty) Lee of Calgary, Alberta, and four grandchildren: Chayse and Grayce, Aislin and Dylan. She was predeceased by her parents, Dr. P. H. McNulty and Eileen (Long), and siblings Patsy, Bill, Philip, and Bob. Marjorie was a uniquely talented, creative and colourful designer and an early graduate of the University of Manitoba Faculty of Interior Design. Upon graduating, she moved to Montreal and returned to work at Green Blankstein Russel (GBR). Over the next several years her design portfolio consisted of working with the Government of Canada on the design of several significant public and residential projects in northern Canada, Ottawa, and here in Winnipeg. She also worked on residential projects with Grant Marshall Interior Design and later moved in to private practice where she applied many modernist ideas to residential interiors. Marjorie engaged each project with endless energy working late into the night. Her clients were her family and she gave each project her all. Marj was a member of the Junior League and very active in her lake community at Victoria Beach. While over the past several years Marj's health was failing, her inner spirit could never be stopped. All of her healthcare professionals would make comments related directly to her strong will and unique style. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to The Saul and Claribel Simkin Centre doctors, nurses, and care workers for the assistance and compassion they provided to Marjorie and for seeing her as the unique individual she has always been. Special hugs to her good friends Mort and Brenda who were always there for her, who gave of their time to be with a good friend in her times of need. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Victoria Beach Club, c/o the RM of Victoria Beach, 303-960 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3G 0R4.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • There are too many fantastic stories to share in this type of forum but let me choose a small representative sample. I remember fondly Marj being so much fun on Pritchard, Mitchell, Swystun & Howe cross-border adventures to Grand Forks and Fargo. Marj and Noel also knew how to set a table. We had amazing holiday dinners with tremendous hospitality. Marj was a hipster before such a moniker was cool. Her personal style and the ideas she brought to her projects was always original and compellingly creative. Our best to the Pritchard Clan and a thanks to Marj for the memories. - Posted by: Jeff Swystun (Family Friend) on: May 10, 2014
