ANNE PALMER Anne Palmer passed away peacefully with her son Wayne and his partner Lynne at her side after a brief illness on Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 87 years. Faithfully at her side on May 10 and Mother's Day, May 11, were her beloved grandchildren Taylor, Chelsey, and Bradyn. Anne was predeceased by her husband Stanley on May 17, 1992, brothers; John, Isaac, Jake, and Jim, sisters; Margaret, Sue, Martha, Mary, Helen, and Nettie, and brother-in-law, George Palmer. She is survived by her two siblings, Frank Letkemen and Kay Gagnon, in laws; Olga Palmer, Ruth and Ed Wolfe, and Lillian Dowbenko. She will also be sadly missed by her step daughter Sharon, Taylor's sister, Emily, by Taylor's girlfriend, Janelle, as well as by all of her nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Anne was born in the small farming community of Haskett, MB. where she grew up with twelve brothers and sisters. Mom was a very good card player, her home was always the focal point for games, camaraderie, laughter, and enjoyment. She especially loved and was loved by Dan Will, who treated mom as his second mother. Mom also enjoyed bingo, horseracing, and travelling, especially to Las Vegas. Mom was a shrewd gambler, and like Kenny Rogers said, she "Knew when to hold em, knew when to fold em." Anne's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital for their exemplary care and kindness, especially Francis and Lori on the Fifth Floor Unit 5. We would also like to thank Doctor Henry and his assistant Sandy at the Parkview Medical Centre for their excellent care and compassion. A very special thank you to Larry Carriere and Maxine Warenko for their continued care and support, and to all her close friends and neighbours in the Brooklands Area. In keeping with mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service was held. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Anne may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO.
