Funeral services will be held Friday, May 16 at 11:00 a.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Quagga Cat Rescue, 970 St. Mary's Road, Winnipeg, MB R2M 3R8. Longer obituary to follow.

I would like to extend condolences to the family. I worked with Russ both in Lac du Bonnet and St. Georges and have many fond memories of him. He was a conscientous and dedicated employee who always tried his very best to do the right thing. I always enjoyed hearing his stories and he had lots of those. Life wasn't always kind to Russ but he tried to find the best in whatever happened to him and to learn from each experience. One can tell a lot about a person by the way they treat their pets and his cats were a big part of his life. My condolences to Russ' family. I worked with Russ on the Winnipeg River Planning District many years ago and ran across him now and again. I have a lot of fond memories of his sense of humor and the character that he was.
