Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY JEAN LINDBLOM (nee BUCK) July 15, 1926 May 21, 2014 It is with loving sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and friend on May 21, 2014 at the Victoria Hospital. She is predeceased by her husband Grant, her son Douglas and her brother Frank. She is survived by her children Brian (Nancy), Gayle, Todd (Nicole) and grandchildren Colin, Holly, Cole, Sydney and Dion. Dorothy was raised in Melita but settled in Winnipeg where she married Grant and raised her family. They first lived on McCallman Avenue in Elmwood and then moved to Lawndale Avenue in Norwood. Dorothy made and maintained many friends in both neighbourhoods. Dorothy was outgoing, helpful, and always willing to assist others. She had a great sense of humour and was always joking around with her family and friends. She loved to horse around with her grandchildren, bringing ready smiles and laughter. Dorothy was a devout Christian, loved nature, going for long walks and family gatherings. She continued her daily walks well into her 80s. A special thanks to the staff at the Riverside Lions Estate Seniors Home for their ongoing care, humour and kindness throughout her stay. Also thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Victoria Hospital. Dorothy's celebration of life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. with Pastor Marvin Simmons officiating. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald Street. Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. The lights of heaven are shining brighter with the passing of our beautiful mother and grandmother. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

Dorothy was a wonderful lady who welcomed me with open arms when I first went to St. Andrew's. I remember the days at Prescawa with your dad and Dorothy and I talked about them lots. Sorry I wasn't able to attend the memorial service - it was too hard since it was also the day of my mom's. Thanks Gayle for the words of sympathy. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. God grant you peace. - Posted by: Carole Bilyk (Fellow member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church) on: Jun 25, 2014

My sincere condolences to Dorothy’s family. She was a lovely lady whose bright spark will be missed by many. I got to know Dorothy through her friendship with my Dad (Gordon) and often marveled at her way with people—she took advantage of all opportunities to offer a kind word, pat a hand, or laugh with those around her and always noticed when someone was in need. Dorothy had a wonderful energy about her and focused on what was good in life without being unrealistic about it. She was definitely someone to look up to! I feel privileged to have known Dorothy and the way she lived her life will always inspire me. - Posted by: Glenda (friend) on: Jun 06, 2014

Dorothy was the welcoming hand and heart that eased my transition to my new suite at Riverside Lions. I was placed at her table when I arrived and was made welcome by the good people there. I will miss the walks, the talks and the banter that made the days more enjoyable. Your friend, Iris - Posted by: Iris Schenk (Friend) on: May 28, 2014

The death of a Mother and Grandmother can be a difficult time, take time for your grief as well as celebrating the life of Dorothy. She was uniquely herself and brought smiles and laughter along with her hugs everywhere she went. Have long missed her April first surprises and our long walks together in Norwood. It was wonderful that she kept walking for so many years. I have a barrel full of things I would like to write, all positive, but not the space. She was an empathetic loving Christian woman. My thoughts and prayers are flowing for you. Love, Shirley. - Posted by: Shirley MacIver nee Cayley (Friend, ) on: May 27, 2014

Dorothy was a wonderful friend to my mother (Rita Trinder) from the Norwood days and over many years at St. Andrews. For our family as well Dorothy always had a hug and a smile to share. Quite a lady ! - Posted by: Ed and Marsha Mathison (friends from St. Andrews Presbyterian Church) on: May 27, 2014

Brian, Gayle and Todd, we are thinking and praying for you. Our memories from McCalman Avenue are strong. Your Mom was a character and a great friend when our families were young. We talk fondly of all the moments we shared looking out our front windows! Look after each other. Joan, Karen, Glen and Lynn and families. - Posted by: Joan Riffel and family (Friends) on: May 27, 2014
