Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNETTE ANNA WACHAL January 16, 1923 - May 24, 2014 Peacefully in her sleep, Saturday morning May 24, 2014, Annette Wachal passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 91. She is predeceased by her husband of 65 years and soul mate John. Together they had two children, Ronald Wachal (Judith) of Sedona, AZ and daughter Valerie Firth (Gary) of Winnipeg. Annette was also blessed with two grandchildren, Laura Wachal (Werner), and Jordan Firth (Jennifer), and one great-grandson Vietel. In Annette's life, family always came first. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, always sacrificing her time and energy for her family. Outside of the home, she touched the lives and hearts of everyone she came into contact with and made many long lasting friendships. Her outgoing and friendly nature attracted those from all walks of life. She always exuded joy and had a sparkle in her eye, no matter what ailed her, even in her final days. She was active in her church and community, spending 50 years with the Catholic Women's Auxiliary and 30 years with the Winnipeg Chapter of the Sweet Adeline's. She also excelled at public relations and product demonstrations, and received many awards and distinctions throughout her career, while still keeping her family as her first priority. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff of the St. Boniface Hospital for their care and support of Mom during her final days. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the charity of your choice. After my death, I will let fall a shower of roses. Annette found real true love in John. She took on a new kind of light and eveyone around her caught her glow. She died a day after her husband's death anniversay. Prior to being hospitalized, she had a mass ready on the Sunday in John's memory. However, they both would share the mass. You will be missed.
