SAU HING YU CHAN It is with deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Mrs. Sau Hing Yu Chan at the age of 106. She left peacefully to be with the Lord while surrounded by her loved ones at the Meadow Manor Personal Care Home on May 26, 2014. She is dearly missed by her three sons and daughter: Ya (So Yung), Jan (Mei), Fong (Eliza) and Sally (Randy), and by her stepsons and daughters: Chun Bun, Mei Mei, So Mei and Fung Chun. She will also be missed by her 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Chan was the second oldest child of a large family of eight. She was well-educated and worked diligently after marriage to raise her own family. She was not only a good wife to her husband, but was always kind and helpful to her siblings and to others. Shortly after the People Republic of China was formed in 1955, she stayed briefly in Canton and Hong Kong before immigrating to Winnipeg in 1966. She worked in a restaurant prior to settling into her role as a loving grandmother. Mrs. Chan came to Christ in 2010, and was baptized just before Easter in the same year at the Winnipeg Chinese Alliance Church. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the caring staff at the Victoria General Hospital, Poseidon Home Care and the Meadowood Manor. Viewing will be held on May 28, 2014 between 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. A celebration of Mrs. Chan's life will be held on May 29, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home followed by interment and lunch. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Meadowood Manor or the Winnipeg Chinese Alliance Church.
