Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVINCENZO MATRICARDI February 16, 1927 - June 8, 2014 It is with great sadness today we announce the death of our dear father Vincenzo who passed away quietly on June 8, 2014 surrounded by family. Born in Francavilla al Mare, Abruzzo Italy on February 16, 1927, he arrived in Canada in 1957 and retired from CP Rail in 1991. Vincenzo will be sadly missed by his wife of 46 years, Enrichetta (Di Girolamo), his children Rocco (Rose Angela) of Ottawa and Maria Pia (Edward Welch), his grandchildren Sophia and Luca of Ottawa, Isabella and Nicolas and his sister Asunta (Franco Di Quinzio). Predeceased by his parents Rocco Matricardi and Maria Pia Paravia of Italy, his brothers Franco (Argentina), Nicola (Italy) and his sisters Angela (Italy), Lucia (Italy), Graziella (Italy) and Ida (Italy). Vincenzo leaves behind many nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy and Argentina, and lifelong friends in Winnipeg. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for their professional and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to QuickStart - Early Intervention for Autism, a grassroots charity that began in Ottawa in 2008. QuickStart's mission is to see that all children have equal opportunity to develop to their full potential through early intervention. Donations can be made on-line at www.quickstartautism.ca. QuickStart is a registered Canadian Charity # 81455 1669 RR0001 Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 12 at 11:00 a.m. from Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. Condolences may be offered to the family one hour prior to mass. Cremation will follow. A reception for family and friends will be held at the Mosaic Reception Centre, 1839 Inkster Blvd. following the mass. Nuestro mas sentido pésame de sus sobrinos de Argentina Vicente , Roque y Maria Matricardi a Enrichetta , Rocco y Maria Pia , acabo de enterarme por casualidad por internet ya que luego del fallecimiento de mi madre en el año 2003 dejamos de tener contacto pero siempre los recuerdo ya que en el año 1993 tuve el placer de conocer personalmente a mi Tio vicente en Italia como asi también a mi Tia Enrichetta y a mi primo Rocco en el viaje que realizamos junto a mi madre , guardando un bello recuerdo de ustedes , es increíble la semejanza con mi padre en esa foto de joven , guardo muchos recuerdos de pequeño cuando llegaba el cartero y dejaba cartas que decían Vincenzo Matricardi , Winipeg Man Canada , la verdad que me sorprendio la noticia , Querido Tio Vicente deseo que en tu descanso , tus hijos y esposa puedan sobrellevar este momento y donde quiera que estes te encuentres con los que ya no están un beso Muy Grande para Tu alma y para tus hijos y esposa. - Posted by: Vicente Jose Matricardi (Sobrino) on: Jul 22, 2014
