WILLIAM JOHN AXEL LANDIN
Date of Passing: Jun 09, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM JOHN AXEL LANDIN Bill Landin of Cartwright, Manitoba died June 9, 2014 at Tri Lake Hospital, at the age of 69. Bill was born in Winnipeg in 1945, eldest child of Axel and Kae (Vopni) Landin. His first seven years were spent at Mulvihill, MB, before the family moved to Winnipeg. Bill was a fiercely independent and industrious young fellow, working at a paper route (before the legal age of 12) and then as a "pin-setter" at the Edmonton Street Bowl Arena. Bill could learn anything he set his mind to. He had many careers, including pool hall operator, cab driver, maintenance engineer, painter, construction worker, cabinet maker and finish carpenter. He was a jack-of-all-trades, and a master at them all. He could fix anything. In his last ten years, he took another direction and became a computer repair technician, much valued in his community. He will be remembered for his kindness, patience, incredible memory, wealth of knowledge, and lively sense of humour. He never stopped learning and loved to have a problem to solve. Bill was a loving husband, father and step-father. He is survived by wife Vicki Wallace; children Matt (Carolyn) and grandson Will, Allison and grandson Benjamin, Graham (Maya), Caitlin (Ean), Claire Landin, and Rebecca, David, Maggie (Dustin) and granddaughter Ella. He is also survived by brother Don (Jan) Landin, and sister Alice Hawkins and their families. A memorial service to celebrate Bill's life will be held Friday, June 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Cartwright United Church. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Cartwright & Area Foundation, Box 396, Cartwright, MB R0K 0L0. Had many great times with Bill. George McLeod, Bill, Nick Ternette and I hung out, and at times lived together in the same building in the 70’s. Saw Bill last Nick’s funeral. A sad moment. Thanks for all the good times we all had. Cas - Posted by: Cas Peniuta (Friend) on: Oct 21, 2018

I was surprised to hear of Bill's passing. Bill and I were good friends back in the 1960's at Daniel Mac High School here in Winnipeg. I think he lived in the Fort Rouge area. He sure was an industrious fellow, a real "Jack of all trades." I remember Bill most for his unique sense of humor. Sadly we lost contact after we both left school. My sincere condolences go out to Bill's wife and family. Dave Parkin. - Posted by: Dave Parkin (Friend) on: Jun 12, 2014
