RICHARD SUPEENE June 28, 1951- June 13, 2014 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our, husband, son, brother and father Richard Supeene. Rick was called to heaven and died peacefully in his home on June 13, 2014. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Yvonne, parents George and Georgette, siblings; Kenneth (Charlotte) of Saskatoon, SK, and Julie (Stanley) Huppe, children; Ryan of Vancouver, BC and Crystal (Rory Katz), grandson Gareth Katz, in-laws; Dick and Tina Sierhuis, their 13 children, many many nieces/nephews and friends. Rick was born June 28, 1951 in Winnipeg MB. Growing up in Windsor Park, he attended Windsor Park Collegiate playing basketball for his high school team. Rick was an animal lover and had ambitions in becoming a Veterinarian. He attended the University of Manitoba for three years until he decided to follow in his father's footsteps. In 1976 he joined The Winnipeg Police Service. He dedicated 32 years before retiring as Sergeant. Rick was an avid sports fan, if not at a Bomber game he would often be home watching hockey, basketball or soccer. He enjoyed golfing, the lake, playing cards, working around the house, and always found time to help his family with various projects, eager to lend a hand. Once retired, Rick spent much of his time caring for his parents in their time of need. Rick loved his yearly trips to Mexico with his wife Yvonne, to quote Rick, "I was born to be barefoot on the beach". Family meant everything to Rick. He dearly loved his children and was very proud of their achievements. Rick was very fortunate to enjoy many wonderful friendships, which he deeply cherished. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday June 20 at Saint John Brebeuf Parish, 1707 John Brebeuf Place. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. • I worked out of the Vice Office across the back hallway from the Crime Division where Rick spent many productive years in Homicide. He was an excellent cop and an all around good guy. - Posted by: Jack Tinsley (Co-worker) on: Jun 20, 2014

  • I worked as a detective sergeant for Rick for a couple of years before Rick retired. The detective office in District 5 was small but a great place to work. Rick knew all the cases but let us work them our way but he provided guidance when it was needed. He was a good leader and it made coming to work, enjoyable. Rick loved Yvonne and his life. Rick would give updates on his "kids" as they started their careers. He was proud of who they were. I will always smile when I think back to those days. I've talked with other detectives who had worked for Rick and they all have good memories. - Posted by: Glen Smyth (retired detective sergeant) on: Jun 20, 2014
