PETER JOHN KENNEDY April 22, 1945 - June 26, 2014 It is with deep sadness, we announce the sudden loss of our daddy, brother, uncle and friend. Pete passed away at the Victoria Hospital after suffering a heart attack. He was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth and father John. He is survived by his daughter Gwen (Brian), son Chris (Joyce), son Ambre, sister Elizabeth, and niece Ann and her family. Pete was born in Kirkcaldy, Scotland on April 22, 1945. He moved to Canada as a young adult where he met his wife Catherine McPherson. He retired from McNaught Pontiac in 2012 where he had made many friends over the years. Pete's greatest passion in life was music and playing his guitar. He "jammed" with his music buddies regularly. He will be greatly missed by all of them. When you hear blues music, always think of our dad. Thank you to the paramedics and ER staff at the Victoria Hospital for all their efforts in trying to save our dad. We would also like to thank our family friend Amanda for all her help and kindness during these last few days. A private family service has been held. Flowers are gratefully declined but donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in Pete's memory. Play your music dad and rest well. We miss you terribly. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Pete and me left Scotland together heading to Vancouver. Being good mates for a lot of years. One of my favourite memories of Pete was when we went to a party, (both drunk or course) and Pete soon found a huddled into it to "relax" . Somebody had a guitar and could only strum tunes. We all got fed up with the music being played so it was asked if anyone else could play the guitar. I nudged Pete and gave him the thing. Pete unraveled himself, took the instrument, and played "Greensleeves". The whole room was as quiet as a church and when he finished, handed it back to me, then curled up and went back to sleep. Everyone was in awe, I felt very important as that was MY mate who had played magic music. - Posted by: bob rusk (auld friend) on: Apr 10, 2023

  • I was a friend of Pete in Scotland we had many happy adventures growing up and the last I saw him was when he boarded the plane at Prestwick to go to Vancouver. Rest in peace Auld Freend - Posted by: John Donaldson (Friend) on: Apr 09, 2022

  • I have many fond memories of our blues jams together with Peter and the other guys in the Blues Society. I always admired Pete's Chet Atkins style of playing. He was a humble and patient guy, always willing to learn new stuff as well as give praise to other musicians. - Posted by: Terry Youmans (Friend) on: Jul 26, 2014
