FORTUNATA (NATY) AQUINO BENAVIDEZ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother, sister, auntie, grandmother and friend at Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg on Friday, July 4, 2014. Fortunata (Naty) is survived by her husband Prudencio; son Palmer (Sandra); daughter Noemi (Thanh); grandchildren, Joy and Nicholas; and many other family members around the world. Naty always worked hard to meet and conquer challenges. From working as a young teenager in the Philippines to immigrating to Canada in 1968 as a garment worker and to finally owning her home cleaning business. Though busy with work, Naty made it a point that the main focus of her energy was always her family. She generously sent money and parcels to relatives in the Philippines. In 1970, she married Prudencio and together they had two children. She instilled and taught her children the importance of family values needed in life. Though Naty faced many health issues in her life, her faith and her love of her family kept her strong. She was an expert seamstress, an artist at crochet and an avid gardener. Her enjoyment of music, devotion to reading and passion for travel was known to all who loved her. The family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, W.R.H.A. Palliative Care Program, Health Sciences Centre Renal Transplant Clinic and St. Boniface Dialysis Program who looked after Naty's care over the years and in recent weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations in Naty's memory can be made to Manitoba CancerCare Foundation, 1160 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V0. A Celebration of Naty's Life will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 with a viewing and Lamay beginning at 6:00 p.m. (Prayers at 7:30 p.m.) and ending at 12:00 midnight at Cropo Funeral Chapel, at 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB. Funeral service will commence at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2014 also at Cropo Funeral Chapel. 204-586-8044
