BRIAN DONALD CLAGUE July 13, 1950 - July 3, 2014 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of beloved Brian Donald Clague on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the age of 63. Brian was predeceased by his mother, Beatrice. He is survived and will forever be cherished by his wife of 34 years, Hortense; daughter, Deborah; father, Edward; and sisters: Joan, Judy, Cheryl, Karen and Linda as well as numerous extended family members. Born in Winnipeg, Brian was a natural athlete displaying a gift for baseball, hockey and, in later years, golf. Every summer he looked forward to hitting the greens and enjoying the company of friends and colleagues. His career started at CP Rail in 1970 where he was employed for 32 years as a Rail Car Mechanic. After choosing early retirement, Brian then worked at Adesa. A world traveller who greatly appreciated learning about different cultures, Brian's adventures included tracing family roots in England, backpacking throughout China and road-tripping across continental Europe, all of which he did with his daughter by his side. The family would like to thank the staff of CancerCare Manitoba and Health Sciences Centre, as well as the numerous, unknown individuals who donate blood and selflessly give life to others. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. In keeping with Brian's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, July 15 at 11:00 a.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald, Winnipeg. I played junior hockey with Brian and he was just an all-around nice guy. A real competitor. I still shake my head when I think back of the time Brian scored a top shelf goal with a slapshot from center ice. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Doug () on: Aug 25, 2015

I had the pleasure of meeting Brian only once, but I must say he touched my life. We crossed paths 11 and 1/2 years ago when he, his father, Ed, and his sister, Cheryl travelled to my father's funeral. My father was a brother to Brian's father, Ed. We had lost touch with the Clague family and it was surreal to meet them and spend the afternoon hearing the stories they had to tell. It was a day I will never forget and cherish forever. I knew he was a kind and thoughtful man. My heart goes out to the Clague family. I hope Brian gets a chance to reminisce with Uncle Bill in heaven...my thoughts are with all of you. - Posted by: Jacki Paplawski (Clague) (Cousin) on: Jul 19, 2014

Brian was my big brother and I have many fond memories of him growing up in St. Boniface. He was the star hockey player and athelete in the family. My Mom and Dad were very proud of him. As a brother, he was our 'Protector' always watching out for his kid sisters. Our hearts are broken that he is gone, we loved him dearly. - Posted by: Cheryl Clague (Sister) on: Jul 15, 2014

Brian played for our team, the Seals Oldtimers, for many years. He was the toughest and best player I ever suited up for or against. His advice to me was invaluable. His shot was so hard it would strike terror in the heart of any goalie or defenseman in his line of fire. I am honoured to have had him as a good friend. I remember Brian being quiet and soft spoken. My earliest recollection of his athletics was when he, as a teenager, took off on his bike one summer and rode to the rockies. I believe he made it to Vancouver on that trip. I recall his dad, my uncle Eddie, telling us proudly about Brian's hockey playing abilities, I think he was playing junior at the time. My dad and I wanted to see him play so we went to the next game. Brian, being a pretty aggressive young guy, came out for his first shift, bodychecked another player and if my memory serves me, suffered a broken collar bone. I'll always remember him as a very nice guy. Our deepest sympathies to his wife, daughter and sisters, and especially uncle Eddie. So terrible to lose a son. - Posted by: Ron Degagne & wife Nancy (cousin) on: Jul 13, 2014

Many years of happy memories walking my dog with Brian (Reggie & Monty). Brian loved to talk about his daughter's many achievements, his travels, and world events. Brian, you will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Liz (Friend) on: Jul 13, 2014

Brain was a great person to work with and will be sadly miss by other staff at work also. Our heart goes out to his family and friends for there loss. Brain will always be in our thought and prayers remembering him as a great guy to work with and being around him for numerous years. He was a team player and a good leader when things need to be done. - Posted by: Jeannette and William DeWitt (Co-workers from Adesa Auctions) on: Jul 12, 2014
