MARIA LURDES SOUSA It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Lurdes Sousa on July 13, 2014 with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her parents, Antonio and Luzia Fonseca and her brother Jose Fonseca. Left to cherish in her memory are, her husband of 44 years Luis Do Rego Sousa, and her children Antonio (Sonia Sousa), Susie (Paulo Silveira), Nelson (Naide Sousa), Robert (Teresa Sousa), and her grandchildren Monica, Miguel, Luis, Nicolas, Makayla and Jeremy. Maria also leaves behind her brothers in Portugal, Antonio (Filomena Fonseca), and Liberal (Filomena Fonseca) and also her sister-in-law Dorvalina Fonseca. She will also be missed by her aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Maria was born on April 28, 1948 in S. Miguel Acores. She immigrated to Canada in 1971. She worked many years as a seamstress and then became a stay at home mom. Maria enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and neighbours. She enjoyed visiting her family back home in S. Miguel and also in Toronto. She was a kindhearted woman that always had a warm, loving smile for everyone. Prayers will be held on Friday, July 25 at 8:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 181 Austin Street, North. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 26, also at the church at 9:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at the Assumption Cemetery. We would like to thank the staff at the Health Sciences Centre (MICU) ward as well as Cropo for their constant care and support. We would also like to thank all of our family, friends and neighbours for their support during our difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Maria's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. It broke our hearts to lose you; however, you did not go alone.
