JAMES ALEXANDER RAMSAY Our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away early Saturday, July 26, 2014, peacefully at Victoria General Hospital. He was surrounded by all of his family before he passed. Jim was born on September 19, 1932. Remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Hedy, son James (Kerrie), daughter Jean (Brian) and son Christopher, as well as seven grandchildren and his recent great-grandson. He was predeceased by his parents James and Mary, as well as his two sisters Margaret and Delores. Jim grew up in Norwood during the Depression, and started working at 13 to help the family. He later worked at the Free Press for many years and also spent five years teaching graphic arts. Later, he worked at Baker Graphics until his retirement. Jim enjoyed many summers with his family at their cabin in Matlock, and later at their place in Lac Du Bonnet. Jim had many hobbies and interests such as playing pool, cards, golfing and bowling. He was a long time Blue Bombers fan and went to many games. He made friends easily everywhere he went and leaves many that will miss him. The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Blouw for his care and compassion, as well as the staff at CancerCare and the Victoria Hospital Emergency Department. As per Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place, followed by a small family service. In lieu of flowers, Jim would have preferred a donation be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

  • I am not one to to read the obits often; some reason today I did. I am so sorry to read the loss of a dear, gentle, caring man. As I remember growing up, Jim and Hedy being High School friends of my parents, always a laugh and good memories. My thoughts are with you Hedy. Please take care. - Posted by: Thomas Haines (Family Acquaintance ) on: Aug 02, 2014
