GERALD (GERRY) BRUCE MURRAY February 1, 1938 - July 28, 2014 It is with great sadness, the family announces the sudden passing of Gerry Murray on Monday, July 28 at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 76. Gerry is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Betty (nee Dougloski); his children, Sean (Michelle), Robert (Laura), Marina (Ray Plouffe) and Erin (Brian Weiser); sister Sharilyn (Al Torn); sister-in-law, Marlene Murray; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, James and Evelyn Murray, his sister, Marilyn and brother, Lawrence. Also his parents-in-law, Walter and Anne Dougloski. He was born in Misericordia Hospital, Winnipeg and attended Somerset, St. Mary's School, St. Ignatius, St. Paul's High and St. Paul's College. He worked at Eaton's, sold insurance and drove a taxi. He was employed by CPI (PPG Glass) for 21 years and National Typewriter until he retired at 60. Gerry and Betty met at 16 and married at 21 in 1959. They raised four children and started their married life in Winnipeg then they were transferred to Thunder Bay, Edmonton, North Bay and Oshawa until returning to Winnipeg in 1981. Gerry loved golf, playing cards/games, videotaping and cataloging movies. He also enjoyed playing and caring for his grandchildren. Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday, August 5 at 11:45 a.m. at St. Bernadette Church, 820 Cottonwood Road with Reverend Father Fred Olds presiding with viewing at 11:15 a.m. Interment to follow reception at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue. "After spending a lifetime of driving others around, may flights of angels take you, Gerry to your eternal rest." - Betty Murray "The anticipated time has finally come when I will meet again those many friends and family that have gone before I did, to live in the other life which God has made for us. Do not think that you are forgotten when I have gone away. Remember me as I will you, for all eternity." - Gerry Murray In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire donations in memory of Gerry, may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the St. Bernadette Building Fund.
