JEAN MARCHESSAULT (BABIUK) February 9, 1932 August 27, 2014 Jean passed away peacefully on August 27, 2014 at the age of 82, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Tom, and her children Gail (Morley), Wayne (Betty), Tina (Fraser), Terri Settle and Carl, along with her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean was well known for her generosity. Whether she was knitting mittens for the Christmas Cheer Board, or collecting toy donations for the local community groups, she had a passion for sharing. Jean enjoyed bingo, and her cheerful presence will be missed by many. We will miss our Mom and Grandma, but we know she is in the arms of an angel. Thank you to Camille and Kelly (home care), staff at Victoria and Grace Hospitals, Beacon Hill Lodge and Lions Manor for their thoughtful care of Jean in her last months. • Dear Tina and Terri; We are so sad to hear about your mother's passing. All our sympathies and condolences to both of you, your father and your families.... Jean was a lovely, kind and a devoted mother and grandmother. ...Not so long ago, I ran into her and your dad at the mall, she was feeling tired but was happy and spoke fondly of her children and grandchildren.... She will be missed. - Posted by: Suzanne & Claude (friend) on: Oct 07, 2014

  • Jean was my mom for 56 years. It wasn't until I became a mom myself that I was able to appreciate the amazing mom she had been. Despite having 5 children she always made sure we had the chance to participate in lots of activities. Halloween costumes were handmade with love. In the early years, when money was tight my mom sewed us pretty party dresses made with floral flower bags. Towels came out of laundry detergent. I always felt special, and one way or another, we all got the Christmas gift we asked Santa for. My mom made many personal sacrifices so her children never went without. It was nice in recent years that my mom could treat herself to bingo whenever she wanted. She made Christmas a special time for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For the last few years, my mom told the same funny experiences over and over again. I would love to be able to listen to the same story for the 10th time still, if it meant my mom could have more time with us. I will miss my mom in so many ways, but she will always be with me in my heart. Miss you mom. - Posted by: Terri Settle (daughter) on: Sep 02, 2014
