LILY VIOLET (VI) HATHERLY Peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at St. Boniface Hospital, Vi passed away at the age of 88. Vi was predeceased by her husband Jack and many brothers and sisters. She will be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, and sister Iona of Dominion City. Vi was born and raised on the farm in Greenridge (Dominion City area). In her early years she worked at Solnes Café for a few years. She then worked at the bakery in Emerson beside Jack. Vi and Jack were later married in March of 1953. After being married they moved west for a short time. After returning to Winnipeg Vi worked at Mazur's Restaurant and Canadian Tire where she retired. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota Street with Deacon Kris Taylor officiating. Interment will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. Special thanks to nurses and doctors on ward 5B in St. Boniface Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
