Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryH. ARNOLD THOMAS It is with sadness, but great appreciation for a life lived his own inimitable way, that the family of H. Arnold Thomas announces his peaceful passing the evening of September 10, 2014. Left to cherish his memory and to miss his wit and humour is his wife of 55 years, Margaret; daughters Lori (John Bandor) of Brandon; Joanne (John Zahl) of Albuquerque; and son, Ken of Winnipeg; as well as grandchildren Jen, Justin, and Riley. He is also survived by his youngest brother, Keith of Ottawa; brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. Born to Basil and Marion (Brown) Thomas of Grande Pointe, Manitoba, in October 1931, Arnie was the oldest of four boys. At age eight, on Hallowe'en, Arnie was struck by a truck resulting in numerous injuries and a year-long hospital stay. For the rest of his life, he celebrated his "anniversary", never complaining about lingering effects of the accident. He was a lifelong golfer, curler, and sports enthusiast. Arnie worked in Winnipeg's building industry his entire life where he was well liked and respected, retiring in 1991. He and Marg spent many summers on the family farm at Carberry where they spent time visiting with family and friends. A graveside service will be held September 17, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Carberry Plains Cemetery, Carberry. Fellowship and refreshments to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, 25 Main Street, Carberry. The family wishes to acknowledge the caring staff of St. Boniface Hospital, 4B, in Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association, the Humane Society of Canada, or your charity of choice. White's Funeral Home, Neepawa, in charge of arrangements (204-476-2848). Friends and family are invited to send memories of Arnie to arnietribute@gmail.com
