Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOMER DONAT MARCOUX It is with the greatest regret that we announce the passing of Omer Donat Marcoux on Friday, September 12, 2014. Omer leaves behind wife Jeanne (Peloquin), two daughters; Renée Molicard, (spouse Daniel) and Jo-Anne Marcoux (partner Carolee Rae), and two grandkids, Eric and Stéphanie Molicard. Omer was predeceased by parents Eloria (Normandeau) and Sauveur, and siblings Leonard and Laurent. He is also predeceased by in-laws Conrad Sicotte and Jacqueline (Turenne) Marcoux. Left to mourn are siblings Blanche Sicotte and Lucien, and sister-in-laws Therese (Fontaine) and Marcelle (Genest). Omer was born in 1925 in Lorette, Manitoba. A Second World War veteran, Omer actively served combat duty and was wounded in North West Germany. After the war he started a successful business. Omer then went on to become a life insurance broker and finally worked as a commissionaire for the Manitoba Government. Omer was gracious, generous and very, very kind. Everyone felt comfortable around him because of his welcoming and unassuming manner. He held no prejudice and was often heard to say, "I love everyone". A smart man, he was ever so perceptive and willing to listen if someone needed to talk. He loved to tell jokes and play the clown and was happiest when among his family. He was truly a wonderful man and his loss is deeply felt. Many thanks to the caring, dedicated staff at Action Marguerite who tried so hard in his final hours to make him comfortable. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada. Funeral service will be held at Saint Martyrs Canadiens on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Eulogy will be said at 1:45 p.m. prior to service. My heartfelt condolences to Tante Jeanne, Joanne & Renee and all of Oncle Omer's family. My memories go back to when I was a child and the uncles and aunts came over to our farm - these people knew how to have a good time!! There was at least one summer when I went to stay with Tante Jeanne and Oncle Omer, and babysat Renee while they both worked at the store. Sweet memories I will always treasure. My sincere sympathies to Jeanne and the family on Omar's passing. Omar and Jeanne were so kind to my husband Tony and myself and we have stayed at their home many times when we were in the city visiting. We had many lovely dinners and "Happy Hours" with you both and will remember him fondly.
