  • I was deeply saddened when I learned that Ricky was called home to glory at such a young age. I had the blessing of first meeting Ricky through the words of his mom and dad as they spoke about their son's kindness, his selflessness, his love for is family, his care and concern for people in general, of his accomplishments in sports and academics. Wilf, Doris and Nadine I pray that your faith sustain you as the God of all comfort leads you through your grieving season. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” - Posted by: Theresa Morrison (Family Friend) on: Oct 05, 2014

  • Ricky came into ours lives when he was playing with OCN Blizzard in The Pas and he was billeted with us. What a lovely guy and pure joy to have with us and our kids. He was with us for only about 2 months or so then was traded. He then came back to us when he had to do his practicum up here for his Paramedic training and he asked if he could stay with us for some of the summer. So we had the pleasure of some more time with him. Our condolences to Ricky's family, whom he always spoke so highly of them. • Doris, Wilf and Nadine. My sincere and most heartfelt condolences for your loss. Although I only remember Rick as a very young child living in Churchill, from the outpouring of comments, you raised a wonderful, kind and thoughtful young man. A tribute to both of you and something that you can be so proud of. I hope in the days, months and years that follow you will find comfort in this. You have so many beautiful memories to keep with you always. May your hearts mend swiftly. Travel Safe Rick. - Posted by: Diane & Mitchell Bellerive-Paddock (Family Friend) on: Sep 27, 2014

  • I first met Rick in August of 2009 when our Paramedic program started. Rick was a wonderful person. He was witty, funny, kind and a great Paramedic. Rick was good man with a heart of gold. He will be missed. It was a privilege to have him as a friend. I regret losing touch in 2013. My sincerest condolences to his family. Rick was taken far too young, far too soon. - Posted by: Leslie James (friend and classmate) on: Sep 27, 2014

  • Richard was a former classmate at Red River College. He was such a straight up guy and really proud to be in the paramedicine program. I remember one evening I drove him home from a class get together at Smitty's and he and I had to leave early... me because of my small kids at the time and he because he didn't want the trouble. I was so proud of him. I am so sorry for your loss. He is lovingly and proudly remembered. - Posted by: Marina Grahan (Paramedic) on: Sep 27, 2014

  • I have known Ricky since he was 16 years old and played for the Swan Valley Stampeders. We became instant friends while he was in Swan and stayed friends over the years. He was a very quiet and shy guy, but once you got to know him, he opened up and the shyness went away. I will always remember the good times and the memories of our friendship will live on forever. Garage hockey will never be the same! Much love and hugs! - Posted by: Tracy Mosiondz (Mullin) (friend) on: Sep 27, 2014

  • Had the pleasure of coaching Ricky in 2006-2007 when he played for the Notre Dame Hawks in the SEMHL. Very nice young man. Could he ever skate & shoot. He was a gifted hockey player. My condolences to the McPherson family. RIP Ricky - Posted by: Claude Robidoux (hockey) on: Sep 27, 2014

  • We had the pleasure of having worked with Rick at our store as he continued his hockey endeavors and work towards his career goals. His interest in his hockey made him a good match for our business of retail sporting goods and his strong work ethic made Rick an excellent choice to hire back when he was looking for work. His love of hockey is what we remember most of Rick and his honesty. He genuinely loved working and talking with the young kids that would come into the store that needed to be fitted with hockey gear. It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of Rick. We would like to pass on our condolences to his family and hope you can take some comfort in knowing that Rick was a good person who will be missed. Sincerely Gord & Jan Sando - Posted by: Jan/Gord Sando () on: Sep 27, 2014
