Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERTIE WILCOX October 17, 1924 - September 24, 2014 For nearly 69 years, Mom was our mom. Mom fixed up CPR stations to make homes for us in towns across Saskatchewan and Manitoba. She had new clothes ready for the start of school, made lunches each day and encouraged us every step of the way. When we tried baseball, curling, swimming and more, she was there. Mom packed for camping trips; first in a tent, later in a trailer and seldom forgot a thing. And after long days working at Zellers (with good friends), she always made sure we had dinner together. When we left home, Mom still took care of us. And she was over most days to carry our newborns, lend words of wisdom, care for sick toddlers and fold laundry. As our children grew, Mom was there for their concerts, games and graduations. For someone who didn't care much for pets, she gently cared for a lot of them. In many ways, our Mom was an ordinary mom. She was just extraordinary at it. She was proud of us and all her grandchildren. Mom and Dad have been married for nearly 70 years. She and Dad were two country kids who grew up 60 miles apart. Mom was working in Whitewood when they met. Mom and Dad have been partners since, through good times and difficult ones. Together they raised good people and taught us how to do the same. Together, they worked hard, volunteered and enjoyed the company of friends and retirement adventures. Each time they seamlessly danced together, we were reminded that before all of us, there was just the two of them. And it was wonderful then too. Through the difficulty of the last three weeks, Dad spent all his time with Mom. She knew she was loved. We are grateful for (and humbled by) the compassion of doctors Van, Bzura and Crow and the nurses and assistants of N1 at Concordia Hospital. We simply cannot thank you enough. We will miss you every day, Mom (Grandma). Lyle, Dean and June (Wayne, Shasa, MacKenzie and Steven, Lori and Ryleigh), Grant and Bev (Alana), Corene and Alan Aftanas (Kevin and Laurie) and Connie and Mike Walker (Matthew and Steven) We will have a quiet family service next week. We owe thanks to so many for their support. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

So sorry to read of Bertie's passing. I remember her as a wonderful person who cared dearly about her family. Her concern for safety was extended to me more than once. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the family. My thoughts are with you, Lyle, and with your family. I knew Bertie as an always pleasant and cheerful woman. - Posted by: Bernice Brown nee Hamm (Teacher who lived with the family in Plum Coullee for two years) on: Sep 28, 2014
