My deepest sympathy to Carl, Sadie, Robert, Eric, Faye, Bob and Sheila Gibbs, and the entire Ewashko family. She would often speak about her family, she loved you dearly. Although we have lost a treasure in this world we can be comforted in knowing she is a gem shining brightly in Heaven. Marie and I go back to our early childhood days growing up next to one another on the same street. I could tell you many stories, but will just say Marie was the most selfless person on earth. She always put others before herself, never complained and was always smiling. She was kind and gentle but didn't mind telling you what she thought either. She had the perfect balance. Marie and I will meet again in Heaven someday and until that time I will always cherish the memories and the laughter. It was an honor to know such a special woman and friend. - Posted by: Robyn (Pickrem) Deveau (Childhood & forever friend) on: Oct 07, 2014

Marie was my friend since we were little girls. She had an infectious laugh, great sense of fun and was the strongest person I have ever or will ever know. Her early life was filled with great tragedy - the loss of her brother Paul, the death of her dad when we were in grade six and the death of her mom when we were in grade twelve - leaving her and her little brother Eric to mourn. Never did I ever hear Marie feel sorry for herself or look at life anything less than wonderful. When she knew her time on this earth was coming to an end, she worried about others, never herself. Marie was my friend and there are no words to express my grief only to say, I cannot imagine a world without Marie in it. My prayers and thoughts are with Carl, Sadie, Robert, Eric and her family who she loved to the end of the earth and back. Cathy Hinton Truro, NS - Posted by: Cathy Hinton (Friend) on: Oct 06, 2014

We want to send our deepest condolences on the passing of Marie. I remember Marie 's sparkling eyes, her love of her dog, her down to earth attitude, and her sense of humour. She and my sister, Christine (Bulmer) Buchkowsky, shared a house in Calgary, played volleyball, and they had a lot of fun together. My mother, Ruth Bulmer, thought that Marie was very special. Marie called her Mrs. B. May you Carl, Sadie, and Robert be comforted by the memories of Marie. No one can take these from you... Sincerely, Anne and David Bransby-Williams (Bulmer) and I speak for my sister, Chris, and mother, Ruth Rest in peace Marie knowing that you are loved by so many people. - Posted by: Anne Bransby-Williams (sister of a friend of Marie. ) on: Oct 04, 2014

Marie and I grew up together in Truro, NS. We were kindred spirits, playmates and best friends and shared a love of animals, dogs especially, and sports. We spent our summer vacations together riding our bikes, playing softball, camping, playing tennis and swimming. We had great fun and sometimes got in a little trouble (but never getting caught) and sometimes we laughed so hard, we couldn't even breathe! We walked to school together almost every day from elementary to High School. In high school we played on the CEC Cougars Varsity volleyball team together. She was a great setter and a dedicated athlete. After high school we seldom saw each other, only running into each other occasionally a few times over the years as we lived in different parts of the country. Although we lost touch over the years, I was fortunate to see her at our last High School Reunion, where we chatted and reminisced the whole night! Always when we met it was like we had never been apart. Marie was a special, loving, strong, intelligent woman. Words can't express how honored I feel to have called her my friend and how sad I am to be saying good-bye so soon. To Marie's family I offer my deepest condolences.
