Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBESSIE FURLONG Bessie was born on June 13, 1931 in Ludlow, New Brunswick. She grew up in a small town and moved away at the age of 15. She found work at an Orphanage and as a young adult worked in the paper mill. Bessie married her first love who joined the military and needed to move frequently and while doing this raised six children. Two were born in New Brunswick, two in Nova Scotia, one in Newfoundland and one in Saskatchewan. Bessie started working in a sewing factory in 1968 in Beausejour, Maniotba. She later ran a cafeteria in Winnipeg and worked as a cook and was able to become a chef. In her fifty's she joined the Salvation Army. Bessie volunteered as often as possible. Her adult children made their families giving her ten grandchildren and next five great- grandchildren. Bessie retired at approximately 65 and passed away on October 7, 2014.
