HERBERT SCHULZ
Born: Jul 12, 1926
Date of Passing: Oct 07, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHERBERT SCHULZ July 12, 1926 - October 7, 2014 Peacefully at home, at the age of 88, in the loving care of his family. Deeply missed by his wife Ellinor, with whom he shared 65 years, children Joan, Karen, Mark and their spouses, Gilles, Noel, Maya. Remembered very fondly by his four beloved grandchildren, Michelle (Jimi), Matthew (Jocelyne), Devin, Julia, and his three great-grandchildren, Cole, Desmond and Delilah. Herb also leaves his sister Lily, brother-in-law Ed and their family, and was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Emilie, brother Paul and infant son Eric. Herb lived his life with principle and passion, intellect and hard work, a book in one hand and a chainsaw in the other. He fought hard for what he believed in, won some battles and lost a few. In later years he was a writer and documented the many chapters of his life - farmer, political activist, general contractor, scholar, public servant, teacher, salesman, business owner, traveler. In the end, the effects of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy quieted his ability to communicate and move freely in the world but never dulled his mind. He cherished his family and had fine and loyal friends. Poetry was essential to Herb, and so... "Do not cry because the hours have gone But smile because they existed" (Goethe) Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Donations in Herb's memory may be made to www.psp.org, www.firefightersburnfund.mb.ca, or the charity of your choice. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

My deepest condolences. Edward & Mary Puchalski were my grandparents. My grandfather Ed told me countless stories regarding Herb while I grew up. Stories that both inspired me and made made a young man really think. My grandfather always spoke highly of Herb as did my mother Valerie. My thoughts are with Ellinor and the family. - Posted by: Dan Painchaud (friend) on: Nov 28, 2014

I heard about Herb through my friend Peter T. what a blessing I couldn't get over what kind and gentle person Herb was, he share information freely and tried to help at opportunity. I have met a lot of people through the years, none come close to being so kind and caring and understanding as Herb. In every case he went beyond the call of duty. In many cases he wasn't to well but still gave you lots of his time. Se enjoyed ourselves we had a few good laughs together which I am going to miss. When you were with Herb he made you feel like you were the only person in the world, in my books he was tops. To the Family I was so sorry to see Herb leave us. - Posted by: Jerry Webb (Worked Real Estate Under Herb the Broker) on: Oct 17, 2014

Dear Elinor and family, Sam & I extend our sincerest sympathy on the passing of Herb. He was a true friend with a wonderful sense of humour!
