WILLIAM (BILL) DACKO Our loving father and grandfather William Dacko passed away on Wednesday October 15, 2014 at the age of 94 at the Holy Family Home in Winnipeg. William was originally from the small rural community of Hadashville, Manitoba and spent the early days of his life traversing the Canadian countryside during the peak of the Great Depression of the 1930's. Eventually he settled in Winnipeg where he met and married Kathleen Karwacki who passed away in 1999 after 42 years of marriage. A professional accountant by trade, William by contrast always enjoyed working with his hands and being physically engaged. He was an active member and treasurer for the Eagles Rod and Gun Club for many years, and greatly enjoyed his leisure time being outdoors. He was a committed husband and father, and enjoyed spending time with extended family and friends. William is survived by his two sons Nelson (Lois) and Dean (Nancy), daughter Janice, and granddaughter Kendra. Predeceased by his brother Mike and sister Kay. He is also remembered and loved by his partner and companion Katherine Kilchiski who he shared the later part of his life. Katherine contributed immensely to his happiness, longevity, and a mutual love and care. A Memorial Service for William will be held at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on Friday, October 24 at 10:00 a.m. with interment at Brookside Cemetery. 204-586-8044

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Every year, when I would come and visit from Vancouver, the hugs and smiles were always such heartfelt greetings. I remember such good times playing cards with Bill and my family. We would play hearts, crib, and 31. The smile on Bill's face when he won was always priceless. Also, he was very good at lawn darts and bocce ball. He had such a competitive streak! Much like my Mom. We have had such quality times with Bill and I am very thankful for the life he shared with my Mom for the last 14 years. You will always be remembered in my heart. Love always. - Posted by: Pamela (Kilchiski) Hovan and Johnny Hovan (Family) on: Oct 23, 2014
