HELEN PROST (WARNICK)
Date of Passing: Oct 18, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN PROST (nee WARNICK) Mom passed away peacefully at the Holy Family Nursing Home on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the age of 98. She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Kimberly, Debbie Owsianski (Sandy), two sons, Rick (Carla), Randy (Alice), and her granddaughter, Samantha Owsianski. She was predeceased by her husband, George in 2008, and her son, Brian in l953. Mom enjoyed a full and wonderful life. She and George had a love story for 68 years and beyond. She was always there for her children and loved spending time with her granddaughter. Mom had many hobbies over the years, including sewing, knitting, and watching her favourite soap opera! She and George enjoyed many fun trips especially to Las Vegas and the years they spent wintering in Palm Springs. Mom always was a classy lady for her clothes and matching jewelry. This continued right up to the day she passed away. In later years she developed macular degeneration which severely affected her sight. Undaunted, she turned to music which she always loved as a source of strength and joy, with a particular fondness for Bobby Vinton. We would like to thank all of the staff at Holy Family, especially those on 2A where Mom lived for six years. Words cannot express our overwhelming gratitude for the never-ending care, patience and compassion you extended to Mom to ensure her comfort and safety. Although Mom could be very particular at times, she was always treated with the utmost respect and dignity to ensure that her requests were met. No request was ever treated insignificantly and always carried out with a smile. It was very comforting to us to know that Mom was treated so graciously as evidenced by the warm feelings and personal connections she had with her caregivers. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 355 Andrews Street, Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's memory made be made to a charity of your choice. 204-586-8044

My memories of Aunt Helen (and Uncle George) are many and wonderful. They were a great aunt and uncle whose company I always enjoyed. Once my Mom passed away a few years ago I did not hear updates about Helen's life anymore. I am sorry to hear of her passing. 98 years young! Wow. Helen had an incredible life and I will always have my fond memories. My best to Kim, Debbie, Randy and Rick (and family).Life is different without a "Mom". Take good care. - Posted by: Barbara Dunn Dart (Niece, Kaye Dunn's daughter ) on: Oct 23, 2014
