RUTH EDNA KEENAS February 23, 1927 - November 3, 2014 Peacefully on Monday, November 3 2014, with family by her side, Ruth, 87, passed away at Concordia Hospital. Ruth is survived by her son Russ (Barb), granddaughter Carly, grandson Dylan, Leona Keenas, Sharlene Keenas, her sisters Velma, Lorraine, Gladys, brother Donnie and their families. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Walter (2008), sons Kimberly (2001) and David (2005), and her parents. Ruth was born February 23, 1927 on the family farm in Morden, MB. After marrying Walter in 1950, they made their permanent home in Winnipeg, raising their three sons at their home on Horace Street, where Ruth lived until 2008. Ruth enjoyed reading, Bingo, Sudoku puzzles and meals with family. Her homemade buns and red velvet cake were some of the favourites enjoyed on holidays and birthdays. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment will take place in the family plot at a later date. The family would like to thank Irene Baron Eden Centre, Ruth's home for the last one and a half years, for the tremendous care she received there. Thanks as well to the staff at Concordia Emergency and North 1 ward for their care and compassion in Mom/Grandma's last days. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Ruth to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
