LAVERNE FRANCES DECOCK 1934 2015 It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Laverne on January 2, 2015. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 58 years Amie; sons Ken (Donna) and Murray (Sally); daughter Beth (Rick); seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Laverne was born in Neepawa, MB and graduated from General Hospital School of Nursing, class of 55. Her passion in life was training her Sealyham Terriers and entering them in obedience trial. She and Amie spent many of their winters in Arizona and enjoyed their weekly hiking excursions in the Arizona Mountains. Laverne also loved the 28 years they spent living in the country at their cottage at Arnes, MB. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held later this spring. In lieu of flowers donations in Laverne's memory would be appreciated to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, R3C 2B7 or to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, R3T 0R3 Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

  • Dear Aimie, Ken,Murray, and Beth, Laverne's passing was a shock to us all. What a wonderful person she was: always so joyful and considerate. The perfect host. We remember the great times we had together in Winnipeg and in Mesa, Arizona. Laverne was a lady of many talents but her greatest talent was sharing her love of life and her love of her family with us all. We will miss her endearing smile and her enthusiasm for every thing she was involved in. God be with you Laverne. - Posted by: Mar and Rene Desmet (Cousins) on: Jan 18, 2015

  • Laverne was special to those of us who also loved Sealys. She had the patience to train her Sealys to the highest level of obedience. Years back we were told that Sealys were hard to train and people were surprised to see a Sealy in the obedience ring. Laverne loved Patches, Maggie, and Kip and persevered to demonstrate to one and all that Sealys enjoy working with and for their owner. We will all miss her. To Amy and your family hugs and warm thoughts are being sent your way. - Posted by: Val Burch (friend and Sealham owner) on: Jan 13, 2015

  • Laverne will be remembered and respected for her commitment and devotion to her Sealyhams, and training them to competition level. Her quick and sincere smile will be remembered as well. Speaking with her at dog shows, and watching with her precious Sealys always relaxed me, and many times brought laughter. Condolences to Amie and family. Rest in Peace Laverne. - Posted by: Bev Atchison (Friend through Sealys) on: Jan 08, 2015
