HECTOR JOSEPH BRUNEAU October 5, 1933- January 2, 2015 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Hector Joseph Bruneau, on January 2, 2015, at Actionmarguerite-Tache, at the age of 81 years. He was predeceased by his parents Rose (Zbaraszuk) and Honora Bruneau, brothers Leon "Pete", Aime and Hormidas and sisters Anna Dandeneau and Emma Bernardin. Hector is survived by his children Denise Stasiuk (Don), Brian (Paula), David (Cheryl), Jeannette Belanger and Barry (Evelyn). Hector is also survived by his sisters Lillian Gibson and Therese Wallack, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as his former wife of 37 years, Yvonne. Hector was born in Fisher Branch, Manitoba, on October 5, 1933. He was a naturally talented man with varying interests and occupations. He loved rural life and working with animals, especially horses. Hector also loved to work with his hands, designing and building many beautiful things out of wood and metal. In his younger years Hector liked to play the guitar and sing at family gatherings. Dad was always quick with a joke and just days before his passing, he was still singing and churning out many amusing one-liners. We would like to thank all the staff in the Special Needs Unit at Golden Links Lodge (14 years) and the Dementia unit at Actionmarguerite (5 months), for their compassionate care of our father. We would also like to give special thanks to Dad's companion caregiver, Edith; he looked forward to her visits every week. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Hector's life will take place on May 30, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Fisher Branch, Manitoba. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Rest in peace Dad. We Love you. Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • Just received this notice from my daughter in-law. She is looking back for my family. The picture of Hector is just like I remembered him. RIP - Posted by: pamela bruneau (niece) on: Jul 22, 2022

  • I loved my Dad so much, I will miss him terribly. Of course I have a lifetime of so many memories but the best ones were when Dad would bring out his guitar and him and I would sing his favorite songs together, Hank Snow, Hank Williams and more. I remember living in Lorette and having lots of family over for barbques. Those were the days. I want to thank all those that sent their condolences. I know he is in a better place with his memories intact and much happier.Rest in peace Dad, you are thought of everyday and you deserve every happy moment you now have. Dad really liked my second husband as their talents are the same. This is not good bye as we will meet again in God's heaven. - Posted by: Denise & Don Stasiuk (father) on: May 02, 2015

  • Uncle Hector was a great man with a Great sense of Humor. He always had a joke or 2 when we'd see him. He was a great friend to my brother Emery. I remember the days when they used to play guitars together & he used to sing. I do remember when he sang " If teardrops were Pennies & Heartaches were Gold " & it brings tears to my eyes. We'll miss him! - Posted by: David & Lea Menard (Niece) on: Jan 17, 2015

  • I was born and raised in Fisher Branch as a next door neighbour to Hector and his family, and though I'm 14 years junior to him, I vividly remember Hector and his horse named "Sandy" which was a very fast horse. Sandy was trained as such that when Hector would be half mounted, Sandy was immediately running in full bore. Also, many years ago, at a gathering, after some coaxing, Hector took the guitar and sang an old song called "If Teardrops Were Pennies and Heartaches Were Gold". Because of that memory which I had about two years ago, I acquired the lyrics and learned to do the song with my guitar. Now, from time to time, I'll play it for you Hector. I sincerely offer my condolences to the family for their loss. Bon Voyage Hector. - Posted by: Leonard Gauthier (Third cousin) on: Jan 12, 2015

  • I'm so very sorry to hear of Mr Bruneau's passing. I remember going out to the farm with my parents (Alex & Vera Stratton) when I was quite young and playing with Denise upstairs listening to the Guess Who, American Woman... lol. Good times! Our thoughts and prayers are with your families at this time. RIP Mr Bruneau - Posted by: Jerry & Lynne (Stratton ) Chabluk () on: Jan 12, 2015

  • My memories of my grandpa include many whisker burns, and him playing the guitar with me. He always had my favorite snack, or he'd get it for me if he didn't. He was always joking about something, even after the dementia developed. I love you grandpa. Rest in peace xoxo - Posted by: Sarah (Granddaughter ) on: Jan 10, 2015
