BARBARA LYNN CHAPMAN (nee DYSON) April 5, 1957 - January 4, 2015 With great sadness the family of Barbara Lynn announce her passing at the age of 57. She will be missed by her husband David, mother Joan, two sisters, Lori Macario (Tony), Cathy Bay (Darcy), and her brothers David (Kiersten), William (Cindy). She was predeceased by her father David Dyson. She also leaves behind many relatives and friends. Barb enjoyed a varied career in the grain industry and was very proud to become one of the first female commodity brokers trading on the floor of the former Winnipeg Commodity Exchange. It was during this time she met her husband Dave. Together Barb and Dave owned and managed a grain elevator in Alexander, MB while living and restoring a historical home in Souris. Barb was very involved in many volunteer organizations during her life and was especially passionate in her work with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Winnipeg. She had a very keen intellect and loved to sit down and enjoy a jigsaw, a crossword or a puzzle of any kind. There just wasn't a puzzle she couldn't solve! Cremation has taken place and a gathering of friends and family will take place in the spring to honour and celebrate her life. www.seasonsfunerals.ca

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I was saddened to hear of Barb's passing. We haven't been in touch for many years but, for a brief period of time we spent a lot of time together as students of the U of M's evening certificate Management program. I was struggling with the Accounting course and Barb was kind enough to tutor me for a number of months so that I had a chance at passing the course! Barb was smart, funny and a pleasure to learn from. My sympathies to Dave and the family. - Posted by: Sybil Stokoloff (friend) on: Jan 13, 2015

  • Our deepest sympathy to Barb's family. We miss her visits out to Fisher Branch with Dave at my parent's Ted and Darlene Switzer's place. Barb took the photos for our wedding and she and Dave helped us wherever they were needed to make our day so special. I'm sure she and Mom are having a good visit together now. - Posted by: Eileen and Rick Stapleton (friends) on: Jan 12, 2015

  • I am so sorry to hear of Barb's passing. Barb & Dave were very close family friends (Ted & Darlene Switzer) for many many years. So many great memories of great times together. I will always remember the funny hats Barb's family made with the napkins at Barb & Dave's wedding. The New Years Eve's get together at each other's place, dinners and always lots of laughs. Our thoughts & prayers are with Dave and the rest of the family. Rest in Peace Barb. - Posted by: Tracy Switzer Falk (Family Friend) on: Jan 12, 2015
