MONICA WEYMES Monica Weymes passed peacefully on January 10, 2015 at St. Boniface Hospital. Monica was born in 1925 in Mullingar, Ireland. She was the youngest of 14 children born to Patrick Joseph (PJ) Weymes and Ethel (Shaw). Monica is survived by her nephew and godson, Father Gerald Weymes (Washington D.C.), as well as many nieces and nephews in Ireland. Also lovingly remembered by her "family not by blood but by love" in Winnipeg, Elsie McCannell, longtime friend of over 60 years, Holly and Jim Cumming and family, and Brent and Barb McCannell and family. Also, Monica is fondly remembered by Daryle and Jane McCannell and family (Brandon), John and Francis McCannell and family (Pierson), Don McCannell (Melita), Jo-Ann Cumming (Winnipeg), and many friends. Monica came to Canada in 1957 and worked for 34 years as a nurse's aide at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital. She will be remembered and sorely missed for her warmth, laughter, wonderful Irish stories, unwavering faith, and her loving kindness. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses who cared so compassionately for Monica in the Emergency, CPR, and E5 wards at St. Boniface. The family would also like to thank all the staff at the Riverview Health Centre, especially D-1 wing, for their kind care of Monica over the past few months. On every visit Monica never failed to say how well she was cared for, how good the food was, and how happy she was to be "back home" at Riverview. A Memorial Mass is being held at Christ the King Church at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Irish Blessing May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind always be at your back, May the sunshine warm upon your face And the rains fall soft upon your fields, And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand. I have known Monica as a client and dear friend for more than 40 years. A truly jolly person and always ready to share a joke and give one a hug. Her Roman Catholic faith was deep and sincere and I know she is now in the heaven she so devoutly believed in. Enjoy your eternal rest Monica, Love Alf - Posted by: Alf Stephens (Friend) on: Jan 13, 2015

I met Monica many times at Riverview over the past few months, she was a real treasure. Always happy, smiling and having something nice to say about everyone and everything. She loved seeing and playing with my 2 dogs, Carter and Jasper and was never one to back down from a good old Irish sing-a-long with the ladies at Riverview. "May your glass be ever full. May the roof over your head be always strong. And may you be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead." - Posted by: Kathy, Jasper and Carter (Volunteer on CD1 at Riverview Health Center) on: Jan 13, 2015
