FAYE D. STOKELL (nee GRAHAM) Peacefully on January 18, 2015, Faye passed away at the age of 69 at the Women's Hospital with her loving husband and niece at her side. Faye is predeceased by her parents Nelson and Marion Graham, brother Roy and mother-in-law Grace Stokell. Faye is survived by her loving husband Grant, brother-in-law Roy (Maureen), sisters-in-law Barbara and Elvine (Leo), niece Marla Rice and her three children Emily Lauren and Jack, niece Marcy Graham, nephews Brent and Gary (Teresa) and their sons Cole and Ty. Faye was raised in Birtle, MB. She moved to Winnipeg at age 17 and went to Success Business College. She worked at Sanford Evans, Rodell Equipment, International Harvester in Foxwarren, Great West Life and then started with the Metro Corp. (City of Winnipeg) in 1969 until she retired in October 1991. We moved to Arnes, MB then on to Sandy Hook Golf Course until July 2014 when we moved back to Winnipeg. Since retiring Faye and Grant wintered in Winter Haven, FL. Faye loved life and was a people person who dearly loved all her friends, talking, partying, listening, giving advice, writing and just visiting with all you lovely people. Faye dearly loved and was so thankful for all her friends in Lake N Golf Estates. The prayers, cards, phone calls and emails were all treasured and truly helped get us this far in her struggle with this deadly disease. Faye enjoyed life, loved to travel, loved golfing, dancing, music, gardening, most sports and helping others. She was just a great lady to be around. Always positive and making sure everyone was taken care of. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten, forever loved. Faye had many more travels to do but unfortunately the journey ends and she was thankful for what she was able to accomplish, always trying to do her best. She was a strong willed, determined, funny and caring lady. We would like to thank Faye's CancerCare team, nurses, Women's Hospital and staff for their wonderful care and compassion to Faye and the family on the final journey. A huge thank you to all of you who have been so supportive, her many "best friends" who were always there and forever in our hearts. As per Faye's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held in the future. Condolences & Memories (18 entries)

  • Grant. I am so sorry to just read about Faye’s passing seven years later. I have thought about Faye so much over the years. I was nineteen when I started working at City Hall. She took me under her wing and helped me so much with advice from baking to whatever. I still make some of her recipes today. She was so much fun at our Super Club dinners. I really looked up to her. She was amazing and even helped me with my typing when my arthritis flared up so bad I couldn’t type. I have tried many times to get in touch with her but never managed to make a connection. I am so sad my old friend is gone but she has never been forgotten. My deepest condolences to you Grant. - Posted by: Jo-Ann Schmidt (Co worker from City Hall) on: Sep 18, 2022

  • Faye and I met at a coffee break at WPG. City Hall and became Friends Forever. Faye could brighten the darkest day with her loving compassion, twinkling blue eyes, and great sense of humor. If the soul of our friendship were put into words, they couldn’t begin to express what we shared. Our wonderful closeness, our faith and trust in each other, laughing and crying through the good times and bad, knowing we were always there for each other no matter what. Faye was always looking out for the next person right to the end. We are All better people for having known Faye and her memory will always be with us. Our Deepest Sympathy to Grant and his family. • Faye was and will remain a very bright light in my personal family memories. I will never forget sleepovers at her home as a young child and the chocolate pancakes she would make my brother and I for breakfast, the laughter and fun she would always bring to the family get togethers in Birtle over the years. Faye is someone that I have always admired and looked up too, I am sorry I never told her so. Grant, may your memories forged with Faye over the years sustain you through this difficult time and may you find solace and peace knowing that Faye is no longer suffering. - Posted by: Lori Gawiak and family (1st cousin) on: Jan 22, 2015
