Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • I'm sorry to have come on to this so late but I may be a very distant relation through my great-great-grandparents Stephen Black and Mary Stephenson. Irregardless of whether I have the lineage correct I would like to express to the Fonseca Family (both Arthur and Albert's) my enjoyment on perusing your family history and connections through your obituaries and other internet links. Thank you. - Posted by: Terry Noble (possible very distant relation) on: Dec 03, 2015

  • Art was a kind and gentle man, as I recall. I especially remember the day he gave my mother a ride from Winnipeg to Altona, stopping enroute to treat her to a meal of vreniki, I believe. My mom was delighted and retold the story often of her caring chauffeur who was willing to drive her all that distance! Our condolences to you, Yvette, on the loss of your husband and friend. May you cherish many memories made over the years. Mary and Ted Hewlett - Posted by: Mary Hewlett (Friend) on: Feb 05, 2015

  • Tish and I are very lucky to have been acquainted with such a nice guy. We are so glad that we had the opportunity to share good times visiting with Art and, of course, Y-vette and all their friends. You're in our thoughts Y-Vette. • Yvette, Art was one of our Best Friends for many, many years. He was a kind, loving, gentle man and we were very fond of him. We have many happy memories of time spent with the 2 of you, Temple Gardens, England, Winnipeg Beach and especially at the "Fonseca Inn & Aston Manor". We will always treasure those memories. Love and hugs to you Yvette, Derek and Céline - Posted by: Derek and Céline Aston (Friends of Art and Yvette) on: Jan 27, 2015

  • I will miss this nice and gentle man. Rest In Peace Grandpa Art :'( - Posted by: Jon Lim (Friend) on: Jan 27, 2015

  • Uncle Art was a man who made everyone feel welcomed and loved. He could fit into any occasion, except one! Our daughter had just won a Mazda Miata convertible and Uncle Art was excited for her. Our daughter and her friend were going to take a drive and Uncle Art wanted to come, only problem was there were only two seats. Uncle Art said, no problem, I'll crawl into the back, which he promptly did and there laid on his side. When the ride was over and as everyone got out of the car, there remained Uncle Art. He couldn't move, every body part had seized up. After reams of laughter and having to take the roof down to get him out, out rolled Uncle Art, and there cemented the bonding of all of us. - Posted by: Jim and Linda Hultman (Nephew ) on: Jan 27, 2015

  • My condolences to Mr. Fonseca's family. I knew Art from his visits to the pharmacy where I used to work, and I've curled against his nephew at the St. Vital CC. Art was such a kind person, a very polite, soft-spoken man. Rest in peace Mr. Fonseca. - Posted by: Bradley Pisiak (acquaintance) on: Jan 27, 2015

  • So sorry to hear about Art. We were neighbours on Southmoor Rd. I remember what a kind and gentle soul he was and a great neighbour, both of you. Again, our thoughts and prayers go with you, Yvette and your family. - Posted by: Paul Fulton (Old Neighbour ) on: Jan 27, 2015

  • The Mason and Fonseca families go back a long time. We do think there was a family connection but not sure how. It was nice to have had Arthur and Albert celebrate Uncle Art Mason's 90th birthday at our home on Royal Ave in Winnipeg. Our condolences to all the family.
