HELEN BUTT It is with heavy hearts our family announces the peaceful passing of Helen Butt of Winnipeg on January 24, 2015. Helen is survived by her husband of 50 years, Don, her children Karen (Rob), Bryan (Aggie) and Carol Ann, as well as grandchildren Brian, Cassandra, Josanne and Danyk. She also leaves to mourn her siblings Rudi (Rose), Wally (Bev), Susan (Kerry), Helga (Bert), Jayne (Henry), and numerous nieces and nephews, and family in Europe. Mom was predeceased by her parents Edward and Alvina Grestchman. Mom and her family came to Canada in 1954, she worked in the factory for Sporty Fashion before she started working for Malabar's until 1964 where she met her future husband and started a new chapter in her life. Being a stay at home mom was Mom's calling, kids were her life, family was her life, and it showed by all the visits she did with her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Mom was always one of the first ones there for the new births and to support anyone in the hospital. Mom had a busy social life. She played baseball with the woman's senior softball team in the late 1970s, loved music and to dance. She would mall walk every day at the mall and loved to go to the "office" and play bingo, she also loved to play poker and really enjoyed playing in the Texas Hold'em Tournaments. Mom had a mischievous side to her which never left. Mom will be remembered for her generosity, kind heart and willingness to help anyone in need. One of the greatest gifts she left us was the ability to accept and love without judgment. We would like to thank all the staff on the 3rd floor at Taché Centre for your awesome care and love of our mom. Viewing will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 29, 2015 with a celebration of Helen's life to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Variety, the Children's Charity of Manitoba, 2-1313 Border Street, Winnipeg, MB R3H 0X4. "We love and will miss you Mom, but you will live on in all of us." Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

We were so sorry to hear of Helen's passing. Remember the times we had with her when her kids were young and she was our next door neighbour. She was always good to our Mom and we enjoyed her popping in for visits. Condolences to your family. - Posted by: Lynne and Brian Deans (Friend) on: Feb 03, 2015

My. Condolences, Don and family. So sorry I did not know about her death until after the funeral. I would have liked to attend. It is a number of years, but I often wondered how you were doing. Since my Mom, Lydia and Your Dad Charlie Butt passed on we drifted apart. My thoughts are with you. - Posted by: Pat Flaws (friend) on: Jan 31, 2015

I don't know what to say. Don, Karen, Brian, Carol Ann, my heartfelt condolences. My memories of Helen started early, and though I was not part of her life continually, the legend and the laughter are often mentioned, and remembered fondly. Helen and Don are to me and my family, friends who helped my parents deal with the issues of a young family. More, the ongoing relationship through hockey, game-night parties and more brought Helen back into my sphere and renewed my own memories. I did not see her enough. Her teasing smile, humor and hugs I will always remember. - Posted by: Kevin Lang (friend) on: Jan 31, 2015

Our deepest condolences to Don, Bryan, Agi, Brian, Cassandra, Karen, Rob, Carol, Josanne, Danyk and all extended family. Helen was an amazing lady, she always saw the good in everyone and she was never shy to voice her opinion. She was not my family's Oma by blood but my children always called her Oma. Everytime we saw her she always had treats in her bag for everyone, she never left anyone out. She will be sadly missed. Rest in peace dear Oma love Debbie, Curtis, Dustin, Connor and Jesse xoxoxoxoxo. - Posted by: Debbie Kehler (Brother inlaws mother) on: Jan 28, 2015
