BARBARA ELLEN THOM March 29, 1956 - January 29, 2015 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Ellen Thom at the Health Sciences Centre. Barb was predeceased by her parents Henry and Joan Thom, as well as her brother Jeffrey Thom. Barb is survived by her long-time companion John Manchester, her brothers Robert (Peg), Greg (Joyce), and her sister-in-law Jane Thom. She is also survived by her nieces and nephew and her long-time friend Karen Loughlin. Barb retired from St. Boniface Hospital where she was employed for many years and made many friends. Barb enjoyed her weekends at the cottage with John and her dog Chance. She loved gardening, boat rides and spending time with family and friends. A small private family service will be held at a later date. Barb will be interred at the Mennonite Memorial Cemetery alongside her parents. To say her passing was a shock would be an understatement. I have a lot of fond memories working with Barb. She always had a smile and kind word for everyone. When she retired she left a large hole that to this day has yet to be filled. Now that she has passed she has left a large hole that we call life that will also never be filled. I'll miss you Barb. I was so sad to read about Barb. I had lots of great memories of her. I bought a standard car but didn't know how to drive it. Thanks to Barb's great teaching I mastered the task in no time. Barb was such a great person and I wondered what ever happened to her and where she was.
