STEFAN OSADCHY April 12, 1920 - January 28, 2015 Peacefully with his family by his side Stefan "Opa" Osadchy was called to be with the Lord. He is survived by his loving wife Traute, son Thomas (Sandy, Coral, Skye, Jadey and Kelanne), daughter Sonia, husband Trevor, (Quentin, Brayden and Xander). He is also survived by his youngest sister Yula and many nieces and nephews. Stefan was born in Vyshenky Ukraine, the oldest of nine children. When he was 20 he went to Germany and was employed as a Ostarbeiter in a industrial factory. In 1947 he immigrated to Canada when he was 27 years old. He worked for CP Rail for 35 years as a section man. Dad was part of the Canadian Reserve Army. He was fluent in Ukrainian, German, Polish, Russian, Spanish and English. He met the love of his life Traute Herold while attending English classes. Our dad was a big outdoorsman. He enjoyed being outside all the time and everyone who knew him will remember how he "puttered" in his yard. Dad enjoyed spending his summers at the cottage at Victoria Beach. He loved riding his bike, fishing, walking and having an immaculate yard in the city and at the lake. Our dad was proud to be an Opa and he loved playing games with his grandchildren. He also never missed his grandsons' hockey games. Our dad will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts. Memorial service will be on Monday, February 2 at 3:00 p.m., Faith Bible Church, 600 Minto St. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Stefan's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Asthma Society of Canada.
